I130 for Stepdaughter Under 21 Embassy question

Hi VJers, apologies if this question has been posted before....

My wife and I were married almost two years ago, she came to the US on a K1 visa; my wife had a son and a daughter from previous relationships. Her son came to the US on a K2 at the same time as my wife, but we were not able to bring my stepdaughter on a K2 at that time for a number of reasons. I have filed for an I-130 for her back in May and are awaiting the NOA2. My question is: will her mother have to travel to the embassy in Colombia for an interview or can my stepdaughter be accompanied at the embassy by her grandmother or aunt?

My wife just came back from a trip back home and we understand she will have to travel back home again after the visa is issued to bring her daughter, but were not planning on having my wife at the embassy and possibly stay in Colombia for an extended time in order to wait for the passport and make travel arrangements, etc. Will this pose a problem?

Thank you all for your responses.
