B-2 VISA possible?

Hello all,
I've a brother-in-law who is a Malaysian citizen currently working in Canada on a closed (only for one company) temporary work permit. He lived in the US for college on F-1 and later on H-1B for 4 years. Somewhere in there is also a year of OPT. He moved to Canada when his US employers didn't want to renew his H-1B and he lost his job. So currently he's working legally for a Canadian company and he's been there for about a year and a half.

I'd like for him to come visit the US this Thanksgiving and Christmas so he can see his sister's (my wife) and my family. As far as I know he has no real "ties" to his home country (Malaysia) since he hasn't lived there since he graduated high school. He's living with a friend and has a steady job in Canada but hasn't filed for a permanent residency there yet.

Will he have trouble getting a temporary permit for him because of his long (9 years!) US immigration history? He also doesn't have a real Malaysian address since... well he hasn't been there in about ten years. Ideally, we'd like him to get some sort of multiple entry visa so he can fly down and visit us in Pennsylvania every few months or so. Will he have trouble getting a visitor visa due to his long US immigration history?

Having a long history of following the terms of his visas to the USA will actually be a positive in getting a tourist visa, as long as he's legally residing in Canada.

First of all, none of the visas you mentioned are categorized as immigrant visas. Secondly, as stated above, he has 9 years of good visa history and has followed all the rules up 'til now.

Good luck. I have been granted a tourist visa eventhough I am undergoing i130 process. Previous good use of visa and clean travel record go a long way.

He need to show his contract or employment letter from the current employer, to proof that he had secure job

He may granted 10 years visa for unlimited entry as visitor.
