Hello everyone,

So i heard that if I send Expedite request for the CR1 the NVC will forward it to the Embassy and the embassy will decide. is that right?

if yes i have few questions,

1- Does the embassy or the NVC have the final word on this ? and can the NVC deny it before forwarding it to the embassy ?

2- " IF " the NVC stated that they forwarded the request to the US embassy, does calling or emailing the embassy to follow the request and explaining more about it will actually help or it doesnt matter, or its better not to contact them ?

Thank you

The immigration process caused me PTSD.

I was just trying to call the NVC this exact moment to ask the same question since they entered my information wrong from the USCIS and we need to make sure it is corrected before my expedite request is reviewed. However, after 29 calls that resulted in a disconnect after 13 seconds, i'm out of minutes to call. Not sure if it's my phone service or their phone lines, so if you get an answer, do let us know.

EDIT : Man, I'm such a dummie. Living overseas for so long has made me forget to look at holiday closings before blowing all my prepaid minutes.

I'ts Labor Day in the U.S., which is a federal non-working holiday..I guess that explains why they didn't answer :D

You'd think i'd know that being the USC, but since I moved to Romania last year, I've had to add an additional 30 hoildays (Sarcasm) to my calendar. Oh well, hope everyone gets a tickle out of my panic :D

Well, as of midnight Friday our time, there were no comments about them receiving it yet in our case file, but there were also no changes to our address or our names which they entered incorrectly. I sincerely hope they at least make the changes to our address before reviewing it and sending it to Bucharest, otherwise, our file will show me living somewhere in New York and her living in Bucharest (Which is incorrect and would only cause problems due to a USCIS operator who didn't know how to enter an international address)

To answer your question, no, it has not be sent to Bucharest yet. Whether the NVC has to give it an intitial approval before the embassy receives it, I do not know. I would think from the medical standpoint of my request, it would at least get sent to Bucharest for review. At that point, I assume they'll ask me to provide supporting evidence for my request, or they will approve it and we will start reporting to the Embassy with our case information instead of the NVC. This is just based on thorough research of the forums, wiki's, and immigration advice from lawyers over the internet.

I'll be sure to private message you if we hear anything you might find helpful.

1. The embassy decided if they will grant your expedite. NVC has nothing to do with it.2.

2. Well why not you have case# I would for sure have case# in the subject heading with subject and ask. Might as well make them alert to the fact.

yes, that's right. I hope you read it here, not actually hear it from someone.

1. embassy. nvc notifies you about it.

2. for some IV Units, yes, it can make a difference. unsure about Israel, totally baffled by their stuff.

I'd like to answer this question as I have expedited my case.

So i heard that if I send Expedite request for the CR1 the NVC will forward it to the Embassy and the embassy will decide. is that right?

Answer > NVC will only send expedited request to the embassy if USCIS has approved your case. The local embassy will now takeover the case to confirm your submission like Affidavit of Support, Police clearances, and filling-up of DS-260 in which case your approved status will be deemed final upon your final interview with the local embassy .

Only approved and valid reasons will be expedited . Not all cases are expedited even if you send an expedite request.

if yes i have few questions,

1- Does the embassy or the NVC have the final word on this ? and can the NVC deny it before forwarding it to the embassy ?

Answer > NVC can deny expedited request and will follow usual timeframe .However , NVC will only process approve petitions from USCIS...If your papers are sent to the embassy , then you already have 80% chances of getting your final approval.

2- " IF " the NVC stated that they forwarded the request to the US embassy, does calling or emailing the embassy to follow the request and explaining more about it will actually help or it doesnt matter, or its better not to contact them ?

Answer > It takes about a week for papers to be sent to the embassy , emailing or calling them helps as this will confirm the urgency of your initial request. :)
