Wow. Just wow. They're killing us. We still have to bring my wife's mom, in a couple of years, I wonder how much the fees will be then? I do find interesting, however, who would pay $2k just to renounce their USC?

No. Lol The $2k is for USC's to renounce their citizenship. I just find it interesting if someone would pay that much. But I wouldn't be surprised if USCIS also raised their prices soon, especially with the rumors about Obama taking an executive action for immigration overhaul.

Have to say, I'm completely and totally confused about the total all-in costs for my CR-1.

Does this look right based on current fees?

USCIS already paid: $420

AOS fee: was $88, now $120

IV Fee: was $230, now $325

Amsterdam Consulate fee $230? Or is that the same as IV fee? http://amsterdam.usconsulate.gov/iv_fees.html

Medical Exam: 145 euro

USCIS Immigrant Fee post interview (ELIS): $165

So is it $1,030 plus 145 euro, or $1,260 plus 145 euro? Or am I totally wrong or missing something?

Whatever fees you paid at the NVC, you don't pay again at the consulate. Meaning if you pay the new IV fee of $325, the consulate can't charge you for the fee again. They haven't updated this site to reflect the new fees. Make sure you have your receipts just in case, I don't remember if we were asked for them, but my cousin was.

If im filing the Cr1 application for myself and my six year old child, what does my cost entail from Jamaica.

Anyone, help please.

I'm not sure what you mean by filing the CR1 application for yourself. Do you mean you are petitioning your spouse and child? If so the fees are $420 for each petition. The form is called I-130, petition for an alien relative. I assume you are a USC, if so separate petitions have to be filed for your spouse and your child. Also, were you a USC at the time your child was born? If so the child may have a claim to US citizenship and wouldn't be eligible for an immigrant visa, he would need a US passport. I must apologize for the mixup,, I meant that my USC husband from New Jersey is applying for the CR1 for myself and my daughter.

I read your response and now realise that the initial cost will be $420 each for the I130.

I am very anxious to be with my husband, we visit each other every year, but I somewhat feel like my life is on hold.

How long will the CR1 processing take, I live in Jamaica and my USC husband is filing from New Jersey.

Your husband as a USC has to file two separate petitions, one for you and one for your daughter. You mentioned that your daughter is 6, so she is considered the stepchild of a USC for immigration purposes.

So yes, like I said before it's $420 for each I-130. You send the petitions together and each petition will be a separate case so they each need their own documentation.

The wait time could be as little as 8 months, up to or a little bit over a year. This depends on several factors such as workload, how fast you send the docs to the NVC, whether you get any RFE's or checklists, etc.

Also, you said you visit each other every year. How long have you been married? If it has been more than 2 years, you will get an IR1 visa, not CR1.

Hi Ian,

We have been married a year now, but visiting each other before marriage.

I am of the opinion that at the point of entry into the US, I will be granted either cr1 or Ir, depending on if i land past our 2 year anniversary.

Please correct me if I am wrong.
