Hi! My fiance just received a letter saying that they will forward the petition to manila embassy with my manila case number.... The letter says I should wait for manila embassy to contact me..... Should i wait then? Or should i contact manila embassy anyway? And should i be expecting the embassy to forward me some package through the mail before me calling them? How long is the waiting time?

Don't wait, you have your Manila case number, so you can pay your interview fee and schedule your interview. Manila very rarely will contact the beneficiary with a packet, you're expected to download the instructions from the Manila embassy site.

Definitely don't wait! My fiancée never received anything from the embassy regarding her interview. Since you have your case number, all you need to do now is pay your visa fee and schedule the interview.

You have your MNL # so it is ROCK n ROLL time!

No for sure do not wait for the embassy to contact you, for most that letter NEVER arrives.

Everything for the visa process is online. I suggest you print out a copy of the embassy instructions letter (online, link in my guide) and use it as your checklist for preparing for the interview.

I just noticed on your timeline that you just filed. Are they just saying they received it and will review it and providing you with a case number to check case status? Or has it been approved?

Hi everyone... I just got my MNL case number too, is it ok to go to medical even if without the NVC letter/email and interview letter? Already booked a flight for medical this Monday and all I have is NOA2 and the case number. Did not pay the fee for interview yet cos I am sure I will undergo sputum exam since I have history of TB. I just want to have my medical done asap. Thanks.

AOS Journey:

March 30 - AOS/EAD/AP sent

April 2 - USCIS received

April 9 - NOA1

May 6 - Biometrics

May 7 - Case is ready for interview

May 21 - Request for EAD expedite

May 26 - contact congressman for EAD expedite

June 1 - EAD card in production

SLEC asks for one or the other. Email NVC, per the instructions in my link below requesting the MNL #, use that email to get your medical done.

Hello Hank,

I did read your link, in fact I copied all the steps and put it in a spreadsheet so I can personalize it and put remarks if done or not. Fiance did email them 10 days ago and still no reply. Also, when I call them to ask for NVC no. last Friday, I told the operator to send us an email to both of us since I will be needing it for medical. Until now, still no email. Huhu.

I am hearing that quite often with NVC regarding emails now, sad, they use to be very quick to reply to emails asking for the MNL#.

Just an FYI, the visa fee is good for a year (the petition validity is good up to a year as well), you can reschedule your interview date twice without penalty.

May be easier for you if you pay your visa fee, schedule an interview date a little further out. Or hopefully NVC will get the letter or email to you soon.

Hi Hank,

Just finished my medical today and they let me in even I only had the printed "ready" status at ceac website. No nvc letter or appointment letter. I am glad I took medical early cos of my tb history, I was so confident that I will be on the sputum exam club. Will be back on Sep 16-18. Now, waiting for my son's TST result on Wednesday. Also, got 20% medical fee discount as we are in Yolanda and earthquake affected area.
