Hi everyone! Me and my Japanese fiance are glad to be apart of this great community. We have our first question.

I am American applying for a k-1 fiance visa for my Japanese fiance. On the G-325A form it requests for the both of us our work for the last 5 years. While I have list of jobs for my form, my fiance has not worked recently in the last 5 years although has worked at reputable companies in Japan in the past. Should we still list her past jobs with the dates even if the dates are not relative? Will this impact our chances in anyway?

I wouldn't think it matters (maybe others would correct me), my now wife also had not worked for some time and we just put the employment dates even when it spanned more than the 5 years.

Again, as far I can tell. there are no employment requirements in the petition

I don't think that should matter in the processing. Your, the petitioner's, job will become much more

important little later in the processing, when you do I-134 (affidavit of support) form for the

fiancee (K1) visa processing after I-129F (fiancee visa petition) is approved.

12-19-2013 USCIS NOA #1 (text and email) received

12-24-2013 USCIS assigns Alien Registration Number
12-31-2013 USCIS NOA #1 hard copy received
06-02-2014 USCIS web site shows NOA #2 approval
06-06-2014 USCIS web site shows case sent to NVC

06-xx-2014 Fiancee acquired birth, marriage, and police certificates from local police station (wrong)

06-16-2014 NVC creates case with GUZ### number

06-19-2014 NVC sends case sent to Guangzhou, China
06-24-2014 Received packet 3 express mail from embassy

Whenever I'm in doubt, I try to follow the instructions about what they're asking for to the letter. In this case, I would limit myself to ONLY employment history in the last 5 years, since that's specifically what that section of the G-325A asks about. You can't be penalized for providing them exactly what they ask for.
