Waiting for k1 visa during this US Visa glitch

Hey everyone, I've followed this forum for a while but never posted until now.

The problem I have is that on the 21st July I had my interview at the London US embassy.

The interview went fine, and I was informed I should receive my passport with the visa in it, in a few days.

Then of course with the bad luck of the glitch, I've herd nothing.

I've logged onto the ais.us courier site when your passport is sent before sending onto me, however it says in my visa status to check ds-60 status, which gives a link to the us visa check website, I enter my case file number, and says that it's ready, that all. And I've seen on other threads on this forum of other peoples visa says issued.

I haven't received any email from the courier company as to say that they have my passport/visa and here's the tracking number etc

Nor have I received any info or email from the embassy confirming the current glitch and that everything is on it's way or anything.

So my question is, do I continue to wait day by day until I receive a email?

or anything or is there a contact number, email that I can contact to confirm that my visa is on it's way,?

or that it's in the queue of backlogs

, and if so, how long realistically will it take, not just for myself but the thousands of others who have had there interview in the past week to get through all the visa backlogs.

I have my wedding on 29th August and just hope that it won't take long to get there as the date draws closer.

Many thanks for any help

You can e-mail the Embassy, it takes them about 3-5 days to respond. The DoS has stated that immigrant and adoption visas are being prioritized, and K-1s are non-immigrant visas. So be prepared for a rather vague response from the Embassy.

From what I've seen on other threads, the non-immigrant visas have been taking about 2 weeks to issue from London since the glitch started.

As long as I'm there for August 29th I will be fine.

It's a non-immigrant visa. When you arrive in the US you still have to adjust status (after you get married). Immediate family members enter as permanent residents and therefore do not need to adjust status. That's the difference.

Either way, London does not appear to be suffering too much from the glitch, so I think you'll be okay.

A K1 London who interviewed on the 16th in London has notification from DX that his visa will be delivered tomorrow, the 1st.

So that is 15 calendar days with the computer glitch in play. There is a thread in the UK forum of those affected and waiting on status changes and courier notification. (London interviews)

Officially on the DOS website its a "non-immigrant" visa...but its really in its own category. Generally all the requirements are the same as those for an immigrant visa...its just technically a non-immigrant visa, but I dont think the embassies look at it like that....

I have not seen any statement on K1 being prioritized or not...but I would hope it would be in a higher priority category than a tourist visa, or a work visa, or a student visa...

They march to their own drums at each embassies, Im sure they all do it a little differently since they seem to process things differently at different embassies....

Those of us at this stage can all only hope...You would think it would give them time to at least catch up on all the work that goes before the printing stage...but maybe bot.

I know in Mexico they are canceling interviews, but they have thousands and thousands of people to deal with daily....maybe they just cant handle it without the computer.

Good luck to all. This is really crazy.

I am certainly not near the class of the experts on this site, BUT..,.,"the first golden rule, I learned, was NEVER make any plans until you have your visa in hand, NEVER,".,.,..,so many things can happen.

I went to Cebu. Philippines, Jan. 2013 to pick up my K-1 wife to be, and she failed the .,.,..,Hmmmmm,.,(will not render an opinion on this) "Sputum Fiasco"..,.,.,I had to go back in April, and her POE was April 24, 2013.

But, "I DID NOT MAKE ANY CONCRETE PLANS, NONE",.,.,.,.,everyone who reads this, I hope you learn "VJ's Golden Rule!"
