Exit Permit from Bureau of Immigration

Hi!Anyone who can help me answer my questions regarding the exit permit you have to obtain from Bureau of Immigration?

-My son acquired his citizenship (CRBA) last March 2012 and this is his first departure (Aug 2014) so I am wondering how much are we going to pay for the exit permit.

-My husband has dual citizenship (Filipino-American), he only has US Passport, he arrived here in the Philippines last Oct 2010 to study, never went back to US during his stay here, and will also be leaving this August 2014, so my question is, does he still need to obtain exit permit from Bureau of Immigration?

-So I read some forum suggesting that for the son, I just have to obtain a Philippine Passport so I don't need to get an exit permit, something like that..

Hope someone can answer me because it is very confusing. Thank you in advance. :)

Hi there!Here is a list I got from the immig website.Forgive me if you already read this.

Who should apply for an Emigration Clearance Certificate?

ECC has two (2) types, ECC A (also referred to as regular ECC and ECC-B.

The following foreign nationals must secure an ECC-A prior to their departure:

Holders of Temporary Visitor Visa (also referred to as tourist visa) who have stayed in the Philippines for six (6) months or more;

Holders of expired or downgraded Immigrant or Non-Immigrant Visas;

Holders of valid Immigrant or Non-Immigrant Visas but are leaving for good;

Philippine-born foreign nationals who will depart from the Philippines for the first time;

Holders of Temporary Visitor Visa with Orders to Leave;

Bona fide seafarers who have stayed in the Philippines for 30 days or more and has a duly approved discharge from BI.

ECC-B is issued to departing holders of Immigrant and Non-Immigrant visas with valid ACR I-Cards and are leaving the country temporarily.

My hubby is a diff case but he needed one when he left for the usa this month and since the only bi offices that process and issue this are manila and cebu,we had to go thru a travel agency and paid 5000 pesos (cheaper than if we fly to cebu or manila) but it actually only costs about 1000 pesos or so.Manila needs 3-5 business days to process this and Cebu can be issued within a day or two.This is accdg to the bi officer that i talked to end of june.

As to whether or not he needs one,i suggest you calling theur hotline.They were pretty helpful

I was told I could get my ecc at the office in butuan. Same day, like, 5 mins they said. Only 300 if I remember right, I prolly don't, but it was not much. Just needed 5 2*2 pics.

That's for a tourist visa, been here for a year. I think you might have gotten some bad info. Or someone has a friend at the travel agency they recommended.

As to the op's issue, I think the easiest thing to do is get the hubby and kid their Philippine passports. Seems like the simpler route to me. The other ways prolly involve a lot of fees and penalties for overstaying, for both of them.

Both counts, just my opinion based on limited knowledge.

Good for you!Wow we are in bacolod and the only way for us to get it is either go to cebu or manila.Maybe i was told that coz mindanao is kinda far from us lol.The travel agency was legit though coz we did hubbys fingerprinting at the bacolod immigration office.Still saved at least 5 thousand than paying for plane tickets to cebu and back.Thank goodness it was all done now dont have to worry about it in a long long time.Did u get your visa yet btw?

Hi! Thank you for replying. So if they both have philippine passport then we don't need to get exit permit anymore? We just need to show both passports in the airport and immigration?

Do you know anyone who has done this?

I agree, getting the Philippines passports would eliminate a lot of issues.

Thank you for this. I just set an appointment for husband and son to have their philippine passport.

Do you think there will be an issue if my husband entered the philippines using a US passport then leaving using Philippine passport?

He only needs to show the Philippine passport, he can still us the U.S. passport for travel, really doesn't matter, except when you enter the USA using the U.S. passport is required.
