Is there any way to leave the USA for 2 weeks after arriving on K1?

So im in a bit of predicament, my partner and I have won a prize which is a huge deal. All expenses paid wedding, flights, etc to the USA. It will be a televised event for a marriage equality event and will include celebs such as the real housewives, Kardansians, etc. Only issue is that I need to be in the USA in 2 weeks. That is not enough time for me to sort out my life here in Aus and I will need to come back home for 3 weeks after the wedding to finish packing and sort out life. Is there anyway I can make this happen?

You must have gotten an approved AOS or Green Card to leave the USA and not have to refile.

The best gift of all is to be with your significant other, your Love. I hope you guys are not going to rush the wedding because of this prize or I hope you two already have talked about this. If both of you guys want this many people at your Wedding. My personal opinion I just want family and close family friends.

But yes, get approved AOS and/or Green Card is only way.

Unfortunately without AP, no, you won't be able to leave the U.S. then re-enter. Is there stuff you definitely need to be in Aus for? Can you ask family and friends to help with taking boxes, redirecting mail etc?

Um... I am talking about maybe you two were still on hold for a wedding at a later date than maybe out of nowhere you got this prize and they told you you would have to get married within this time frame.

And it would seem as a rush if you say two weeks is not enough time and you need to be in the US at a certain time.

I was asking for a reason..

Anyways I would not take the prize if I were in your guys shoes. If finances are an issue, than you guys should take care of yourselves which is most important than this prize.

I wish you guys well

You have a few choices as I see it: 1) rush to get everything taken care of before leaving for the US and getting married; 2) do as much as you can before leaving, go to the US and get married, file for adjustment of status (AOS) ASAP with advance parole (AP) and wait the 2-3 months for your travel documents in order to go back to Australia and finish moving to the US; 3) go ahead and get married and go back to Australia right after the marriage, have your partner file for a spousal visa and wait for it to be approved and once it is approved, return to the US; 4) pass on this opportunity, and get your life sorted out in Australia, move to the US and get married and file for AOS and return to Australia when you feel like it.

It all depends on what is important to you and your partner. This sounds like a once in a life time experience. I would do everything possible to get things taken care of or arrange to be able to delay that for 5-6 months and return to Australia after the marriage and either the GC or AP has been received. That is me. It is amazing what a person can get accomplished if they are properly motivated. YMMV.

Good luck,

Dave

I'd go for the wedding :)

Wrap up as much as you can in the next few weeks, see if you can get family and friends to help. Work out a way to leave the rest for when you've got AP in a few months' time :)

Life's too short to worry about packing!

Hahaha. I LOVE them. Its my big secret!!

Thanks for all your suggestions guys. It looks like we are going to have to let this one happen with out us :(

Ill wait till my Attorney emails in the morning but i doubt he knows something Visajourney doesn't! lol.

Would have been so cool. I guess our little court house wedding will be ok though!!! (I'm joking, I'm thrilled to be marrying my love!!)

I'd go for the wedding :)

Thats what I was thinking but my voice of reason (My soon to be wife) Reminded me of the cost of letting go of our lease, lost wages, etc.

It makes sense. With me not working when we get to the USA it wont be as easy as life here!

Yep... risk is just too high!

For me.... well, I am going to marry my sweetie (the USC) in her parents' log cabin in the woods, where it started 20 years ago, when we first met!

Nice and small, just the family (and, for me, my 2 friends from Calif.) and a minister. That's all we need!

Enjoy your wedding!
