Visa overstays get amnesty... They break the law, and then get to stay...

Amen. This issue will remain until such time when they secure the border and make it water tight. The bigger issue is that nobody really knows how to get that done. In the meantime, we should also seek to enforce penalties on those who hire those without authorization. We can say 'they' all we want but We The People are also responsible for not enforcing the same laws we complain about when someone else breaks them.

“Justice will not be served until those who are unaffected are as outraged as those who are.”

Benjamin Franklin

"Roughly 5 million of the estimated 11 million people who entered the country without legal authorization or overstayed their visas could be protected under a leading option the White House is considering, according to officials who discussed the proposals on condition of anonymity."

http://www.latimes.com/nation/la-na-obama-immigration-20140726-story.html

So tell me... why is everyone on this site freaking out about what sections to be put "N/A", "None" etc...?? We are made to wait, and others are denied for stupid reasons or put on hold indefinitely for reasons they will not even release!

Why are our foreign partners subject to body screenings, vaccine screenings, and all different kinds of checks whether it be biometrics or otherwise? Then they are hassled by the T S A in coming into this country, and immigration officers.

Why do we have to pay $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ amounts of money just to get them here to then TURN AROUND and pay another $1000+ so they can STAY?

We are the legit ones following the rule of LAW yet the government (and the idiots who run it) let illegal ALIENS who are breaking not just national but international law to cross the border, and they are then establishing amnesty for them based upon what?

I am SO SICK of seeing news just being rubbed in my face, and hearing people I talk to about it say "ohh they can pay taxes, they can help the govt if we just give them amnesty".

WHAT A JOKE!

What does it even mean to be American anymore? If you can just fly into Mexico and cross the border, and get Amnesty???

It is just NOT right. If they give amnesty to these illegal national/international law breakers then why cant they give amnesty to us? Why do we have to pay the piper of "immigration" and follow the law to the "t" or never see our loved ones.

Why do our love ones have to go through all the screenings, biometrics, vaccinations, and everything else leading up to an interview with the fear of never being able to fulfill the desire of being with the one they love.

Then when they get here we have to jump through more hoops than a circus monkey who is doing it for peanuts.

Just to stay here!

/End Rant

To be honest I would rather see my taxes go to the honest people on this site, than a bunch of law breakers.

/End Post.

Sigh. Whatever. Freaking ridiculous.

What's your alternative proposal to deal with 11 million undocumented people? Whatever it is, I 100% guarantee it is not feasible.

In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock.

Thomas Jefferson

The last thing we should do is make 11 million law breakers legal. We are rewarding the behavior they have

presented which is against the Rule of Law.

What reason would they have to follow the Rule of Law after this?

At the same time we as a nation are setting a precedent that those who follow the rules are the suckers!

Stand on Principle! Not amnesty. Period!

To be forced into being for this having it rammed down our throat like any other piece of government

legislation is not true to the virtues that this great country was founded upon.

One of those great virtues was Rule of Law. Now if it can be proven that these 11million law breakers respect ROL... then we will talk.

But good luck with that... as they have already broke many many laws in illegally entering this country.

I do not trust them, and I do not want them in our country.

If you have been reading news articles you can see the violence that has been inflicted by them, the diseases

that are spread, and the crime that is increasing because of them.

They do not respect our laws nor will they ever.

So giving them amnesty at the very least in principle is the wrong thing to do.

You do not reward evil with good. Any parent knows this.

I am then reminded by the quote:

Policies are many, Principles are few, Policies will change, Principles never do.

I agree with you. My husband has been in consulate level AP for over a year with no sunshine. They were pissed off at me this summer for going to the embassy and asking why, while others get to do what they want. It is a kick in the stomach and it hurts because soo many of us are suffering while those who are not doing it right get the most attention. Please tell me your proposal and I will follow.

Please... I know illegal aliens and legal immigrants. I grew up in a highschool that was 40%+ Hispanic and you are going to drop this wiki on me?

From talking to them I gather:

They steal ssn from dead people, or pay off living citizens for their ssn, not only to work but to claim the benefits from social security/welfare.

Wonder if you knew that...

Bet something else you did not know is you can use a ssn twice in different states in the US and the IRS will not say anything about it. (This has became so bad that the IRS now issues pins(with the ssn) for people who have two different submissions for taxes.)

Ohh and wait... after they have kids in America they are then set for perpetual cash assistance, food stamps, and medical assistance. Free ride baby.

By the way... the majority of the "legal" hispanics(I grew up around) were pissed off by the illegals.

Want to know why?

Because they hated the fact that they came to this country and busted their butts to make it, and some illegals from Mexico can cross the border and accomplish everything that took them years to achieve by using this amnesty push or having anchor babies and they have to pay for it.

Also... did you even look at the link?

Sadly. The people who follow the law are not rewarded. We cannot do anything, but complain to our elected officials and if enough of us complain... it probably will not change anything.

Amnesty for these illegals is so political in the left/right party *cough* the republicandemocrat party that more than likely those who do follow the law will be left out in the dust.

Start writing your representatives, but do not expect anything to happen. (It might work in getting them to light a fire or you could just get an automated response).

Do not lose hope though. I am not sure about the specifics of what you are facing. I am sure someone else on this great forum could help you get some kind of advantage to tip the odds in your favor. It is just sad that those who immigrate the right way are damned for trying yet everyone else is just peachy king.

Sorry for your situation. I hope the best for you.

Sensitive topic to touch on open forum, but even many silent folks

have strong opinions about this one way or the other.

One time there was a friendly argument that heated up over lunch

between co-workers that we used to lunch together regularly.

(legal) Mexican argued that US stole Texas, California, and few other states...

so Mexicans are just returning to their motherland, so what's the problem?"

And one African American guy half jokingly and half seriously

chimed and said, "they forced you guys out, and they dragged us in..."

And the Caucasian guy said "then go back to the Africa if you don't like it here"

and continued with "Mexico lost the war and ceded those land to US for

millions of dollars, so you were paid off"

This continued on and it eventually went to, the land of America belong to the native Indians,

and Europeans stole the land from them...to...why are we wasting so much of hard earned

tax money to lazy welfare collectors..and on and on...

So to break up the argument and to lighten things up before we return to work,

I said...(jokingly of course with a big laugh...)

"That's right, American Indians originated from Asia, so this is my land,

you guys all get the heck out..." LOL

Aside from the illegal immigrant thing, we have a big hole in our government.

Each year, tens of billions of dollars are paid to fraud Medicaid, food stamps, unemployment, tax evasion, etc.

I'm not asking for bigger government, but we have many areas we can improve.

I pay ton of tax and of course I want to stop most of non-sense welfare and

billions in foreign aid to countries that are not even struggling.

But that's easy to say when I'm not on the desperate end of the things.

All I'm saying is, if you were on the other side,

I'm 110% sure your view will differ.

So this is all relative to where you are at...

I understand your viewpoint and agree.

As I am sure many people on visajourney are frustrated by the double standard that is presented through amnesty.

While I can understand the issues some may have on an over stay of a visa, i feel it should be taken on a case by case basis in immigration court instead of giving amnesty to everyone in one swoop.

I think the permanent ban is a joke for overstay, and I think even the 10 year ban is stupid.

Why not do away with these instead of amnesty?

I do not though have any understanding for illegal aliens crossing the border.

I think amnesty is a failed policy and one that is going to cause all of us hardship.

For those who are in a bad situation due to an overstay I hope you are able to work it out for the best.

Although, giving amnesty to all does nothing but cheapen what it means to be American, while hurting the economy, and all of our systems of care for citizens that we pay taxes into.

Emotionally I hope the best for all those families that are in hardship, and have had to make hard choices.

I just stand on principle. Maybe the US could change immigration law, and make it easier to immigrate.

That would solve the problem.
