Hello everyone, i am a permanent resident of the US since 2006 but i have been in and out of the states. i am living in australia now as my husband is from here but planning to go back to the states to apply for citizenship so that i wont have to keep coming back every year (tickets are so expensive coming from here!!) i went through the checklist and so far everything is good except for a few things.

firstly, i dont have enough proof that i have remained ties with the US, i dont have mortgage, or bank, or any pay stubs to show them. are there any other type of proof or any other way that i can go about it? secondly, i havent done my tax return continuously for the last five years. i didnt get to file my tax in 2010. and the years after that i didnt have to file anything since i didnt work anymore after 2010?

also, would they ask for my old passport as i have lost it?

i just really want to be sure as it is a big step for me to go back again to the US as i have so many attachments here in australia already and i have to leave it all behind. thank you for your help!

Directly from the USCIS.gov site

Can you meet the following? By your comments above it doesnt; sound like you can....yet

States for at least 5 years. (In some cases, this may be 3 years

if you are married to a U.S. citizen.)
