NOA I-485 Interview received - both need to attend?

Hello VJ,

I received NOA for the I-485 interview which is very exciting. I am the applicant and my wife (petitioner) lives out of state. Does she have to fly in and take days off to attend the meeting?

The reason I ask is, because it will be several hundred dollars to buy a plane ticket and plus she has to take days off work. Im planning on moving to her once I have the approval. I would have hoped it is not necessary since I have provided evidence of our relationship dating back several years.

Also do you know if the EAD comes before or after the interview normally?

Let me know your input. Thank you!

Hello
I currently work in the US with an E2 visa.

I am getting married in April to a citizen. I want to apply for the green card right after the wedding. Im confused, can I leave the US in May to attend a friend's wedding in my home country? Or do I need to fill out a specific form while im in the green card process? Any ideas?

Thanks
Alex

Your wife has to attend the interview you.

It all depends on your local field office on whether or not they are busy or not. If they are busy you will most likely get your EAD card a month to two months before your interview. If they are not busy like your's then they skip the EAD card and just set your interview date up ASAP.
