Hello. Am starting this thread so all June filers can track their N-400 journey towards naturalization.

Both my parents will be applying for their N-400 around the second week of June.

Can someone confirm if I have included all the necessary documents in the application packet?

  1. Completed, Signed and Dated N-400 forms.
  2. Copy of both sides of their Green Cards.
  3. 2 Identical Color Photographs each with their name and A-number written on the back.
  4. Check for $680 + $680 and A-number written on the back of each check.
  5. Two copies of IRS transcripts for the last 4 years(2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013) - They did not file their taxes as they have no income however, I claimed them as dependents on my taxes
  6. Copy of Dad's driver's licence and auto insurance policy.
  7. Two copies of parent's bank statements.
  8. Two copies of utility bills on parent's name.
  9. Two copies of notarized statement regarding their marriage(they don't have marriage certificate).
  10. Two Form G-1145 for e-notification of application acceptance.
  11. Two similar written statements regarding why they don't meet the minimum income requirement to file taxes and also regarding their frequent travel out of the country.
  • Physical Requirement: They will meet the 913 day(30 months) requirement on June 12th so will likely send the package around June 9th.
  • Continuous Requirement: They meet this requirement as they have resided in the US for the last 5 years with no absence longer than 6 months at any time but have had 5 trips that are less than 6 months each and hence the separate written statement.
  • State Presence Requirement: They meet the 3 month requirement to reside in the district before they apply their N-400.

Any other documents that need to be part of the application packet ?

Also, will they have joint interview or separate interview ?

You don't have to send M-477. It should be used to help you prepare the list of documents you need to send.

Hlee14, I believe that you only need to put the time since you became a permanent resident...so if it's been only 3 years since you received your GC, you don't need to put the places you lived before that.

I have a question, did any of you add a cover letter listing the docs you sent with the N-400?

I am about to mail my application for my daughter and I. She is now an adult, so has to apply separately from me. We have lived in the US for 17.5 years, and I have been married to a US citizen for 12 years. We have had our green cards for 8 years. About time, huh?!

I forgot... I have a question. During the interview, it says to bring travel documents for when I left the country. I have taken a few vacations (one to Canada 6 years ago, and several to Mexico (never flew... only drove or during a cruise)). What kind of travel documents do I bring? I don't have a record of my vacations to Mexico that we drove, or of my flight to Canada 6 years ago, and my passport wasn't stamped. I am not sure I understand what it is they want.

True. only add travel details for the last 3 yrs.

Alix, am sending a cover letter. It's not needed but good when you list the documents you are sending for your own reference as well.

Copamom, just bring your current passport and your previous expired one, just in case. That's what they mean by travel document. You don't have to bring proof of your travels.

By the way I just mailed my N-400 package! It should be there tomorrow by 3 pm.

I will be sending out my application sometime in the next few days as well. I can't help but notice that the required documents for the N400 isn't as extensive as the I751.

This is what I have so far:

-$680 check payable to DHS

-2 passport photos

-front and back copy of GC

-tax transcripts 2010 to 2014

-apartment lease agreement and rental receipts (2009 to present)

-joint checking account statements 2011 to present

-joint savings account statements 2011 to present

-copies of joint credit card and statements (Jan 2014 & May 2014)

-copy of health insurance card, statements, beneficiary designation

-husband's 401K beneficiary designation

-copy of marriage certificate

-copy of auto insurance policy

-husband's birth certificate

-our son's birth certificate

Several questions:

1. Do I need to include credit card statements solely under my name? We have fully paid out all our other credit cards and have only used a joint credit card since Jan 2014.

2. Utility bills are only in my husbands name. Do I need to include them?

3. Are vacation itineraries & pictures acceptable?

Thanks in advance. I'm so excited for this last leg of the journey!!
