I am adjusting from work visa (e3) to LPR on basis of marriage. See timeline for other dates.

My local office is Chicago, which looks to be pretty back logged. I've been in Testing and Interview since February 18 (biometrics January 31, no RFE, received Combo Card already.)

Starting this thread in the hopes there are other Chicago locals reading who can share their experiences and update one another on interview dates - how long were you in T&I? Are you currently waiting for an interview date too? I'm generally feeling pretty patient but would love to hear from others in the same, Chicago-delays, boat!

PS I have a work trip from mid July to end August that will take me to Germany and would love to get my Gc before then...not looking great based on Chicago timelines though.

Hi,

I am also adjusting and my local office is Chicago, I've been in T&I since april 4, and just like two weeks ago I got my EAD. It seems like the chicago office is taking up to 4 months after biometrics to have the interview according to the VJ statistics, which by the way is bad luck, I know two friends who told me that they adjusted status a few years ago and that in 3 months after they filed they had their interviews.

Keep in touch, since I filed in February you should get your interview app much sooner than I will.

Good Luck!

I'm a fellow Chicagoan as well. Very similar to ajhigh - Biometrics done 2/11 - got the EAD but 485 status is still Interview and Scheduling with no date. I don't expect the interview to happen til June or July, but that would be mean a Date for the interview should be set any day now. Who knows.

Day 1:[01/16/2014] I-130, I-485, I-765 delivered to Chicago

Day 5:[01/20/2014] NOA1 confirmation texts + emails

Day 8:[01/23/2014] NOA1 hard copies in the mail

Day 14:[01/29/2014] Biometrics Appointment letter in Mail for 02/11/14

Day 22:[02/07/2014] Early Walk-in - Denied. Didn't know about early walk-in til now

Day 27:[02/11/2014] Biometrics Done

Day 36:[02/20/2014] I-485 Status changed to "Testing and Interview"

Day 69:[03/26/2014] EAD Approved. Status Online Changed to "Card/ Document Production"

Day 171: [7/10/14] Got Notice of Interview Scheduled for 8/12/14

Day 202: (8/12/14] Interview Completed in Chicago downtown Office

Day 202: (8/12/14] Got Approved Notice and GC is in Production

  • 2 weeks later...

Hey all,

I have been in testing and interview since the beginning of April, so based on your responses I will probably be waiting sometime. I hope that the process speeds up soon.

I was also planning a trip in August, but It's highly doubtful that I will have my GC by then and I don't want to void my application by leaving. I should have filled out advanced parole, but I guess I didn't think of that at the time.

Hope you all get your interview soon :-)

Jemma

Hi R&IJourney, any news?

We have booked flights for a work/leisure trip to Germany this July - I leave on July 16th. Right now I'm not feeling optimistic that I'll have the interview before then. I'm worried it will be scheduled for while I'm away, as I heard you need to visit them in person to reschedule and I'll obviously not be able to do that...

Fingers crossed someone in this thread hears soon so we get a better idea of the Chicago timeline. Seems like they're even more behind than the VJ stats led me to believe.

Hi Jemma,

Glad to see another Chicagoan in the thread. Are you going to apply for advanced parole? I can't remember how much it costs (it was free to file at time of filing AOS) but maybe it would be worth it so as not to have to put your travel plans on hold.

I'll report back to this thread when I get an interview date, but right now I'm guessing it will be right when I'm away (July 16 - August 31).

Oh wow, so you're a month ahead of us and still nothing? That makes me think I'm going to be waiting til at least July to get notice of the interview. Maybe I'll luck out and it will be scheduled for after I get back from my overseas trip...

Would be great to hear from you when you get notice of the interview scheduling, thanks!

Hey there - our app was submitted Jan 16th - so I'm with grazynka.

Ajhigh - based on the stats on this site from people who are actually reporting, we should be hearing about the interview any day now. Its been taking an average of 5 months for the actual Interview, which would mean we should be getting the date atleast any day now. But again, those are averages and seems Chicago averages are increasing every week. Back in January the average was less than a 100 days for AOS Interviews...its gotten way worse. We have an anniversary July 25th and were hoping to go somewhere out of the country but looks like we'll be celebrating right here in the US :-(

Oh whoops, just saw the timeline for grzynka - they did their app more than a month before me. Oh geez

Day 1:[01/16/2014] I-130, I-485, I-765 delivered to Chicago

Day 5:[01/20/2014] NOA1 confirmation texts + emails

Day 8:[01/23/2014] NOA1 hard copies in the mail

Any news, anyone?

I've been in T&I for 106 days. It's been 139 days since I submitted my application (date of NOA). So it seems as though the VJ AOS Stats for Chicago aren't accurate for us 2014 filers...

They might be accurate but thats only based on averages of people who report on this site. Not all the applicants. And Chicago averages keep rising every couple of weeks. I dont know whats going on there. I havent heard anything either. USCIS says they have a mandate to complete the AOS apps within 5 months. Doesnt look like thats going to happen. Its frustrating because back in Jan, I checked averages and they were at 80-90 Days of interview date and now its past 120. And ajhigh I think its going higher again.

I fully expect to hear about an interview date or some update this month. Or atleast I hope so :-)

We all just have to hang in there and hope for the best.

Great news, congratulations! Thanks for updating us, it's really helpful as you're almost exactly 30 days ahead of me in the process.

Although, that's left me thinking that my interview is likely to be scheduled in August, and unfortunately I'm in Germany on a work assignment this August. I leave on July 16th so unless I get my interview notice in the next week I think there's going to be a clash. Bummer...I might be back soon asking for advice on how to reschedule my interview. I'll keep you guys posted...

@grazynka

We got the same interview date mailed the same day! :) it might be the same time as well, :P

Wishing you luck!

Indicatio, can you let us know when your status moved to "Testing & Interview" and/or when you had biometrics? That would be great for us still waiting :)
