Which consulate do I need to go to and does this seem to be serious?

Hello, thank you for looking at this thread, I highly appreciate it.

I moved from Brazil to Jacksonville, Florida when I was 11 years old back in 2005, I lived and studied there until 6/21/2012, so I left American when I was 18 years old, my birthday is on the 25th of March.

When I first went, we went legally although we overstayed our visit for many years(2006-2012 - illegally).

I've maintained my relationship with an american girl, and she visits Brazil often and she's been wanting me to visit but my visa expired as it was only for five years. I searched and found that somehow, as I did not understand too clearly, there is a 3 or 10 year ban from getting in America if you overstay although It was not my decision to move and I left America before (I believe) 120 days after my birthday which allows me to escape the ban in general, although I do not know if it is true, could someone clear that up for me?

I currently have two married sisters that live in America, they both are legal now and I'd like to visit them as well.

So overall, my question is..

Should I go to the American Embassy located in my City(not too far from me) or the Brazilian Consulate to re-new my visa.

What are my chances of my visa being re-newed or declied due to me overstaying?

Since you are currently in Brazil, you would not be going to a Brazilian Consulate for two reasons:

• Consulates are located outside of a country's borders
• Brazilian diplomatic missions have nothing to do with US Visas

If you are seeking a tourist visa to the US, you need to go to the nearest US diplomatic mission to apply. If the US Embassy is the closest US diplomatic mission to you, then that is where you will go to apply.
