Hi,

My EAD and AP( Travel Document) are expiring in Sept2014. I am travelling to India in August. Need to renew my EAD and AP before I leave for India. What is the procedure for it and can I do it myself? What documents would I need to submit with it and what would be the charges?

Thank you

How did you file for the first one? You will have complete just like an initial application, including pictures. You place on app, your current EAD/AP card info. Do you still have the envelope it came in? Include that paperwork in your application. The fees depend on how you initially applied.

You should fill in your timeline. Knowing what you filed for and where you are in the process helps people give the best answers.

If you filed for them with a pending I-485, which you most likely did, and you have not received your green card approval yet, then fill out new I-131 and I-764 forms to renew them, Follow the instructions for what required documentation you need to provide, and be sure to include a copy of your I-485 receipt notice, which will make the fees waived once more.

Assuming you filed for the EAD/AP card with your AOS application back in about July/August of 2013, I would get ahold of the USCIS and see what is up with your AOS application. I know they were slow last year but IMHO it is time to become a squeaky wheel. Get your Congress-critters involved. Make an INFOpass appointment with the USCIS.

I would see about your GC application first and then see about renewing the AP/EAD card.

Good luck,

Dave

I had a lawyer do the needful the first time. But I thought applying for the EAD and AP was free and my lawyer is asking for $500 which I wanted to avoid if I could.

My dates for Green Card are no longer Current. Don't know when that will happen. Thus need to get the EAD and AP renewed.

I have to renew my EAD and AP card as they expire Aug 21, 2014. I also am scheduled to travel back to Canada that day because I'm in my brother's wedding on the 23rd. My question is my current immigration status still a K1 Visa holder even though I was married in May of 2013 and filed for AOS in June of 2013 ? I know I am a C9 eligibility status as I am still waiting on the AOS but I wanted to make sure I still was under the K1 Visa for immigration status. I don't want to do this incorrectly because I'm on a very tight timeline. My fault. I didn't know it expired that quickly.

Also I read something about if I'm still waiting on my AOS that I don't have to pay the fees again for EAD and AP ? Is that correct ? Thanks.

Your K1 expired as soon as you entered the US, without renewing your AP your application for a green card will be considered abandoned so you better hurry up & file the new I131 & I765 so you have a good chance of getting it renewed in time.

Were you notified your case was a potential interview waiver? That seems like an awfully long time to be waiting even then so I would be following that up.

Note: If you already have your green card then you don't need to worry about EAD/AP as the green card supersedes that

Yes. I was sent notification that the interview was waived. I have a current EAD and AP card. I've been working ever since I first got them last year in August. The card expires Aug. 21, 2014 and that's what I'm trying to renew.

Forms are going away today.

I don't have a Green Card yet. The only card I have is my EAD/AP and something stating that my I=485 has been accepted and is being processed. Plus the letter that said the interview is being waived.
