Interview language

Hi, My mother is in her 80's and she doesn't speak English. She has her interview coming up in Madrid, Spain. Will she be required to bring an interpreter with her? Will they allow an interpreter into the embassy with her? does anyone know if the permanent resident interview for a US citizen family member is conducted in English or the applicant's native language?

When my wife had her K-1 visa interview at the US Consulate in Guangdong, China, the first question asked by the IO was if she wanted to conduct the interview in Chinese or English. I would think that the IOs are at least bilingual.
