Hi everyone,

I posted a couple of days ago regarding my stolen passport, however, yesterday I realized that the thieves have also taken my Irish DL which means the only proof of identity I have is a US Military dependent ID. I filed for AOS 10 days ago so I have photocopies of my passport bio page, K-1 and stamp.

I know a Government ID will suffice for biometrics, however, I'm quite worried about the AoS interview.

I know many of you will think I'm getting ahead of myself but the Embassy has told me it can take up to and over 10 weeks for a new passport to be issued.

I rang the USCIS helpline today and I was informed that a Government issued ID is all I will need for the AoS interview so my military ID would be fine should my passport not arrive. However, I was under the impression that a GC was stamped into a passport so I'm very confused.

I also have a police report.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The I-551 stamp, or temporary Green Card (GC) stamp, placed in the passport, is often used when the new Permanent Resident requests it due to several reasons, for example, travel plans that are scheduled to take place prior to the actual issuance and receipt of the permanent Form I-551 GC.

At the AOS interview, the IO can and may ask to view all passports. At our AOS interview, the IO did ask for all of our passports for comparison to the copies we had previously submitted with the I-485 packets. It sounds like you have plenty of documentation explaining why your passport is unavailable. YMMV.

Hopefully it will all work out for you.

The passport is not required for an AOS interview, if you even have one. It is not typical procedure to place a stamp in your passport at the interview. When your green card is approved, the card will be mailed to you. No need for a stamp.
