I-864 signature - accountant and/or tax payer's

Hello,

I just got off of the phone with the NVC, but their answer was a bit vague. My joint sponsor is sending me a copy of his 2013 1040, which was prepared by his accountant. His accountant signed the 1040 (because it was an e-file) and thus, there is no space for my joint sponsor to sign his 1040.

When I asked the NVC customer rep, whether this was okay, her response was, "we cannot advise you about the signature. If you feel that having your joint sponsor's signature on the 1040 would be useful, please have them sign it."

My question:

Would it be better to ask my joint sponsor to put his signature somewhere on the 1040 (even though there is no space for my joint sponsor to sign)?

Thank you in advance!

Consider sending in your tax transcripts instead. Less paperwork and better than sending copies of your tax forms.

You can get them online: ---> http://www.irs.gov/Individuals/Get-Transcript

Good luck!

If the 2013 tax return was only recently filed, it's quite possible the tax return transcript is not yet available. Otherwise, that's a good option. However, the taxpayers signature is not required on a copy of their tax return. Make sure though that you send the complete tax return including W2 forms and all schedules, not just the 1040.

Thank you very much for your advice! I already have my joint sponsor's 2011 and 2012 tax return transcripts. You are absolutely right: it is much less paperwork.

Your guess is absolutely correct: the tax transcript for 2013 is not yet available and I would much rather send my AOS and IV packages sooner rather than later. I will make sure to send everything. Thank you for your response and advice.
