Hello,

just wanted to share what hubby has gone through in Bangalore regarding PCC in case it helps anyone else.

Hubby arrived as PSK (sai arcade) at 845am and asked to enter for PCC (he had booked an appointment for end of april but we didn't want to wait so thought to try walk-in)

The guards would not let him enter, asking why he needs a PCC (for green card purpose), where is the checklist (he asked what checklist they are referring to since the website when he booked his appointment didn't say anything about bringing any letter or checklist). They said they will not let him in without the checklist.

Hubby left and went to take print out of the NVC bar code coversheet and the Mumbai consulate checklist.

Hubby arrives back with printouts and shows them to guard to try to enter again, guard asks why do you need PCC (to submit for my green card), guard asks why are to applying for green card (hubby says to join my wife who is USC living in US and this is the US govt requirement to submit PCC for green card), guard says ok so you are going as a dependent (hubby says no its CR-1 visa to join my spouse not a dependent visa). The guard then asks hubby to write a letter stating all these facts of why he needs PCC, who he is joining in US etc. Hubby writes the letter and FINALLY guard allows him to enter.

Hubby gets a token number and goes to counter A where they take his pic and fingerprint him and he pays 30rs so he can get sms. then he waits 3 hours to get called to counter B (while waiting, he was asking hourly why there is so much delay and they gave bullcrap reason that the file has to transfer from counter A to B but there is no file its just the pic/fingerprints in the computer!)

Counter B asks same questions about why he needs PCC who is he joining in the US etc, they flip through the papers hubby brought (he brought his passport, old passport, marriage cert, NVC barcode sheet, mumbai consulate checklist) says ok now wait to be called for counter C.

waits another 3 hours to get called to Counter C where they again look at the papers and say that the police verification will need to be done and the police will contact him. once the verification is complete he will have to come back to collect the PCC. Hubby asks how many copies can he get and they say don't worry about that now. hubby asks how long will this take and they say the police could call as early as tomorrow but don't give any definite timeline.

so all in all hubby spent 8 hours running around for all this today and nothing really accomplished! Will keep updating as things happen (verification and completion of PCC)

Is it because he walked in and did not wait till April 23rd? Would they have just given the PCC if he had shown the PSK appointment letter? Looks like they gave him too much ####### without "their" piece of paper (Which is the appointment letter from PSK for April 23rd and other supporting docs).

he did take the receipt for his appointment! He didn't want to have to pay the 500rs again so he had that with him to prove he had already paid and that he wanted to walk in rather than wait until the 23rd but they still gave him a run around....honestly i think bangalore sometimes sucks like this, hubby is a north indian and doesn't speak kanada (only hindi and english) and its times like these that the bangalore govt offices take advantage. the guards were speaking in kanada to him and that is a whole other story about the minor harassment he faced since he speaks only hindi and english!

I had similar issues when I had to deal with the FRRO to get my police clearance and foreign registration completed. when i was in Pune I had hardly any issues but when i shifted to bangalore they gave me so much attitude and problems making me run here and there at their whims.

anyways....I think we are going to send our NVC without the PCC since who knows how long this will take now!

Hmm.. I hope they don't give him the runaround when he goes on 23rd. Based on your experience, it looks like the guard and people at PSK had no clue about PCC and looks surprising to me that they asked him so many questions.

as of right now he doesn't have to go on the 23rd. he will get an sms (the reason he paid the 30rs) once the police verification and paperwork is complete so he will know to return and pick up the PCC...who knows what kind of problem they will give him when he tries to enter to pick up the PCC!

Was his passport issued by PSK at B'lore or was it issued from some other state?

His passport was reissued in March by PSK bangalore. He updated it to change the address from Pune to Bangalore and added my name.

It was NOT a tatkal passport (he had taken the appointment in Jan for March and appeared in March for his appoint and submitted all documents and received his new passport)

Interesting. My wife never got anything like this and I hope they aren't giving you a PCC from the Police station or police commissioner's office(which was the case years back where one would also obtain Police clearance certificate from the police station). Just to clarify your PCC has to be from the passport office on their letter head and it would be good to double check just to make sure its on PSK's letter head when your husband gets it.

well he went to the PSK in bangalore so this had to have been initiated thru them (it even says its part of the "pre-verification basis for your PCC application"

But i will inform hubby to ensure he gets 2 copies on the PSK letterhead!

update! so hubby got a call around 2pm saying he needs to come down to the police station after 5pm and bring with him his bank statements and phone bills.

530 he arrived at the police station, they made him fill another form, spoke to him asked how long he is in bangalore, how long at his present address and asked why he doesn't know kanada? then he said "what about the fees (there are NONE)" to which hubby said "how much sirji" and he said "whatever you wish" so hubby shelled out another 500rs to this guy and said "this will be delivered to the PSK tomorrow and I can pick up my PCC friday" the guy said "the police commisioner has to sign off then it will go back to PSK so I think its better you wait until Monday to pick up the PCC"

so hopefully this will be done by Monday as he said (and thats why hubby paid 500rs)!

hello kat,

i literally just got my PCC from Pune (maharashtra), even though I live in Canada (my sister did it for me)…Long story..but yes, you fill out all the form and they will call you once or twice and you pay what you have to pay….and then in about 3-4 weeks they will get it for you.

the other option for him is to go to the Passport office in bangalore/Chennai, and get it done that way...

hubby did go to the passport office in bangalore and all this has stemmed from that initial visit only! we have lived in bangalore now for 3.5 years and his passport was reissued for bangalore so he went to PSK in bangalore and still we are getting all this hassle!

i just hope it is complete monday as they said it would be!
