Hello,

I'd like to remind the community that VisaJourney is a family friendly site and everyone's posting should fall within those limits. While we have a Terms of Service that outlines this, I wanted to remind the community that certain items including copyrighted material, pornography or sexual content (even suggestive photos) is not allowed. Posting items such as this will result in immediate removal of the content by a moderator including a suspension of the offender member.

Thank you for helping to keep VisaJourney a strong and welcome community for everyone.

Can you answer why your own VJ ads have such content in them? And have for years? One thread was just posting the ads that populate from VJ.

So, I innocently come here to help people, to make your site work, and I get bombarded with ads for mail order brides and phone sex hotlines...

My deepest apologize if any ads are served by third party networks on occasion with poor content. Those networks do indeed work hard to screen for that content and it is removed once detected. We do not directly serve ads ever that are in contradiction to our terms of service. -Ewok

It's not "on occasion" -- I'd say a full third of the ads I saw were for "HOT RUSSIAN WOMEN WAITING FOR YOU" "FIND YOUR CHINESE LOVE" or "SEXY FILIPINAS -- 100% FREE."

What's par for the course is that the hate continues on unabated in certain places since apparently that's more family friendly than a guy blowing snow out of his #######.

On copyrighted materials, do you have a definitive policy? With the numerous articles posted and cites to various sources, as well as images, and videos posted on this site currently, to what extent can we continue to do so? Would a youtube of a copyrighted work constitute a violation of the TOS? How many current avatars and signatures would have to be removed?

Take for example, wikipedia's policy:

Since yer cracking down on OT and CEHST,

I suggest you look at enabling the 'private/password' feature on the CEHST forum,

and let folk play there with looser regulations/guidelines on such things as

--cursing

--name calling

--quasi-nude torsos

and other non-family-friendly things

as

this crackdown on family-friendly things is about to start a revolt.

Note - you've a configuration thing you can do with this portal software,

to enable password protected areas.

Please think about it, before the revolt steps up and becomes overwhelming,

then

let us know yer thoughts about the actual implementation.

Simple problems require simple solutions. Why not just get rid of the political and off topic forums, if this is such a problem.

However, if you've got a moderation team with nothing better to do apart from attempt to enforce an arbitrary and ever-expanding list of rules and regulations, then fair play to you. That said, I'm betting that you don't.

I find this change welcome. Remove the addiction, and the addicts will leave. Then your mod staff will no longer have to enforce the quarantine. A self-help family immigration site should be about immigration alone, and not therapy for the socially inept.

I just wanted everyone to know that we are not trying to go wildly overboard. We are simply trying to strike the right balance to keep VJ family safe while still being a fun and helpful site to visit. I'd just ask that you give us a short bit of time to settle in as well. I don't ask this often, but as a personal favor to me can you give us a little time to get it right ?
