Hello all!

Please i need help! I am a US citizen filing for a fiance visa for my partner in Thailand.

He just went for his interview .The immigration officer is asking for Ghana Identity documents and house registration.

Please can someone explain to me what the above means. We are very very confused.

We have given the officer his passport, birth certificate and police records from both countries. What other proof are they looking for? also, what is house registration?

Any help will greatly be appreciated!!! We do not want to send the incorrect documents.

HI!

The Officer is looking for Ghana Documents? I thought he's from Thailand! Ghana is another country... I'm not sure that if it could mean anything else

Anyways, if it wasn't clear, I think you should schedule an infopass with the IO.

And the House Registration, it's a document that stated that this person, name, DOB, have been living in this address. In the past, it was like a big sheet of paper but nowadays, the size decreased and it was made like a small passport.

You can ask your fiance about it, I do believe he'll know what you are talking about.

Good luck!

They have some issue they need to clear about his identity. They will not issue the visa until name checks are done. Provide what they asked for or they will have to try to resolve this on their own and hold the visa until they are happy or deny it because they can't resolve the issue

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

So, they emailed my fiance to come up his passport. As per the email, they are still considering the application and they will let him know if additional document is required.

We are soooo confused at this time. The interview went well. He gave them the required documents.

I am currently thinking of going to my congress rep.

AP is anything that causes them to NOT approve you right then. Because they asked for identity document not normally seen they are probably going to validate the documents and use them to clear up the "problem" that caused them to ask for the documents in the first place.

There is nothing that Congress can do.

He's in AP which means the US Embassy is still investigating his background.

There is nothing you can do to speed AP up.

You will just have to endure it.

Ok. The part that made me very nevous is that they told him to come pick up his passport.

This is the exact letter (Does this mean AP):

Please be informed that your case is currently under consideration.

Please be advised that we cannot inform you how long it will take, but we will do at our best and will keep you informed if any other documents are needed.

Thanks!

Yup. Welcome to AP hell. Unfortunately, there is nothing that you or anyone can do to change this. It will take as long as the US Embassy sees fit. There are people on this forum with foreign spouses who endure years of AP while others get through AP in a few weeks.

Best of luck to you.

Just checked the CEAC website. it was updated today. I guess they dont update the site or what? we have already been to the interview

it states ready.

Your case is ready for your interview when scheduled at the U.S. Consular section. If you have already scheduled an appointment for an interview, please prepare your documents as directed in your appointment letter and appear at the consulate on the appointed date and time. Otherwise, please wait until you have been notified of your interview appointment. Additional information about how Immigrant Visa interview appointments are scheduled can be found at:
