Do I need to provide documents as green card holder for me to able to marry in the Philippines? Has anyone gone through this process, too? Please help!

Once you arrive in the Philippines, go straight to the Local Civil Registry (LCR) of the Municipality where you're getting married. Both parties (bride & groom) should be physically present to apply for the marriage license. The LCR will also provide the forms for parental consent so its better to bring the consenting parent/s as well so you could finish in a jiffy.

The marriage license will be released after 10 working days. You will also be required to attend a seminar.

Other requirements are (it may VARY depending on the LCR of your city/municipality):

- CENOMAR of bride & groom

- NSO BC of bride & groom

- valid ID of bride & groom

- valid ID of consenting parent/s

I have heard other options such as, the groom applying for marriage license, and then shipping the documents to the US, and then the bride provinding all the info needed, and then shipping them back to the Philippines. Has anyone heard of this?

Also, both of my parents are not going to be present on my Wedding Day.. they will be staying in the US. So are there other options for Parental Consent? Thank you!

Yes, that's possible.

- Your BF sends the application for marriage license and parental consent form to you.

- You and your consenting parent/s sign it and have it notarized at the Philippine Consulate who has jurisdiction in your area.

- Mail the docs back to your BF.

- Once your BF has it, he will bring it to DFA to have the notary authenticated then he brings it to the Local Civil Registry.

So for my BF to be able to obtain a marriage license application, he has to provide a copy of our CENOMAR, and birth cert? When will the seminar need to take place?

Not really. As far as I know, he can simply go to the LCR and ask for a form.

But just to be sure, might as well bring the CENOMAR and NSO BC (yours and his) with him.

Regarding the seminar, I don't know if they will waive it. He has to ask.

CENOMAR and birth certificates are a must. Your bf can get one for u from NSO. I was 23 when i got married and my parents were not present when we applied for the marriage license. The local civil registrar asked me to fax or provide a letter (with address on the envelope) of consent from my parents, together with a copy of their passports since they were not in the country that time. It was just a simple letter.. With regards to the seminar, i think it is scheduled. We had ours on the same day though..

01.14.2014 - AOS fee showed paid

01.15.2014 - IV fee billed; expedite approved

01.18.2014 - sent AOS package

01.22.2014 - IV fee showed paid; AOS arrived at NVC as per UPS (10:18am by FNU)

I just saw this. Thank you! So I don't have to go to the Philippine Embassy to get my forms notarized? I'm a bit confused, so my bf has to have our CENOMARs and birth cert upon asking for a marriage license application? And for the parental consent, what I just need to do basically and to fax them my letter, together with my parents' passport? I arrive in the Philippines on April 5th, and we plan to marry on the 11th. Do you think it's possible? Thank you so much.

Based on my experience, both of you needs to be physically there in the office when applying for Marriage License and needs to attend the seminar before that. The license will be processed 10 working days and you can't marry without it, so going there this April 5th may need to be changed to have ample time before your wedding day.
