Hi I desperately want to gather all information i need to get everything done properly. My Fiance is stationed in Japan (US Navy) whose gonna be back anytime soon. Im currently in the Philippines. We planned on getting married in the Philippines this December but unfortunately his leave wasn't approved one of the reasons is the super typhoon that recently struck the Visayas region. And he's not sure when he can get his vacation leave in the Philippines. Im still keeping a positive thought of us being together, God has better plans for us. He'll be asking some people at the legal base when he get back but i wanna do my part too.

Just wanna hear success stories having the same situation and advises will really help me keep my head up.

*Praying everything will be alright*

Hi i am married to a US Marine and we had our wedding here in the Philippines 3 months ago. We also had some worries about the wedding being postponed because of reasons like 1. His possible deployment, 2. Not getting his leave approved, 3. Clearance and background checks, Etc.. But we made it, he did everything he could and his bosses helped him too. Im not sure what advice u need but id be glad to help u with anything. Just ask me if u have questions. I hope ur fiance gets his leave approved if not now, then hopefully early next year. he still have to stay in Japan until January 2015, he's been there since 2012 January .. How come he can't petition while he is in Japan? I believe he can send a petition to USCIS in Lewisville since he is overseas?

Ohh Congrats! :D . Tell me about it, there are just so many approval to go through.. Clearance background?

i hope so too.. since our december plans got spoiled, we're thinking of our plan B which is him to petition me from Japan. Do you know anyone with the same case? Ive read some info in the USCIS page and it says he can mail the petition since he's a military stationed overseas.

Hmm have u tried checking the regional forum for Japan? Maybe there are couples there who have same situation as yours.. I know if the petitioner is outside the US, he can file DCF or direct consular filing, from the country which he is currently living. However it also depends if dcf is also available in that country. I assume Japan doesnt allow dcf...? So if thats the case then the petitioner must really send the packet to the uscis lockbox.

My husband is stationed in Japan too but we got married in US. I had an online friend who's in the same situation like you, her BF (US Navy) cannot file a leave, so what they did was to get married in Japan. All she did was get a Japanese Tourist Visa, her Tourist Visa was valid for 90 days allowing them to prepare documents for the marriage.

But as of the moment, I haven't heard from her, I wasn't sure either if they really got married or not, but I believe and I THINK they really did as she never gets online now, I assume she has a new life now, and yea, already married.

my thoughts to you would be Contact both the Embassy of US in Tokyo, Japan and have your BF to talk to his Legal Command at the base that you intend to get married possibly in Japan.

I believe he can file i129f for you.. :)

FIANCÉ(E)S OF MEMBERS OF THE U.S. ARMED FORCES

Q. I am in the military and am engaged to marry a non-citizen. I filed a Petition for Alien Fiance(é) (Form I-129F) to bring my fiancé(e) into the United States. Do we qualify for expedited processing of the petition?

A. If you are a U.S. citizen and have Form I-129F, Petition for Alien Fiance(é), pending on your spouse’s behalf, you may ask USCIS to expedite the processing of Form I-129F by calling the Military Help Line. If you are a U.S. citizen and do not plan to marry your fiancé(e) before he or she enters the United States, you may file the Form I-129F petition on his or her behalf. If you are outside the United States, you can mail the forms to the appropriate USCIS Service Center listed on the Form I-129F instructions. (Unlike a U.S. citizen, a lawful permanent resident cannot file a Form I129F.)

After USCIS approves the Form I-129F, your fiancé(e) may file an application for a K-1 nonimmigrant visa at a U.S. Consulate overseas. A K-1 visa allows your fiancé(e) to enter the United States to marry you, and for no other purpose. If you and your fiancé(e) do not marry within 90 days of his or her admission to the United States, the K-1 visa will expire. If you marry your fiancé(e) within those 90 days, your spouse may file to become a lawful permanent resident by filing an Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, (Form I-485)
