Hi folks. My fiance's interview is scheduled for January 7th in Manila. We are a same sex couple. My fiance's town was essentially destroyed by Typhoon Haiyan, so he has temporarily moved in with his cousin in the Manila area. It's essential we have good internet and communication capabilities as we approach the interview date.

I'm looking to see if there are any other same sex couples on this site that are also being processed in Manila. To date I have been impressed with the speed our petition and interview date have been handled. I mailed our I-129F on August 2nd. Does anyone know of any same sex success stories out of Manila?

I have been to the Philippines 3 times over the last 2 years for 3 weeks each visit. I really do not believe we have any problems establishing our relationship. You just can't help but be a little nervous.

The question I would ask is... does your mate live in a state that recognizes gay marriage? If not, that might make the 90-day part kind of difficult.

I can't be of much help regarding the USA embassy in The PI but can say that with my dealings with the staff at the Laos one they have been pretty helpful. I have a same sex partner too.

Do you have lots of documentation of your relationship? Have your fiance bring all of the photos, letters, money transfers....with him for the interview.

If you have all of that and if your finances are in good shape they would have no reason to say no.

I said nothing about scipture to obtain a visa. You are putting more than there is in my post. I simply made a statement about BRING ATTENTION to themselves.

You see, you bring my very issue to light. When I, as a heterosexual, ANNOUNCE my position, a true Atheist such as yourself want to shut me down.

So now my question is directed DIRECTLY to you, are you one of those hypocritcal Atheist that celebrate the pagan holiday Christmas.

You see, I have many freinds who are Atheist, and yes, they celebrate Easter and Christmas. You ready for this, and yes, we all have a good laugh when I call them to the carpet about religious holidays being observed by them. You see Daven, we are what you call educated ADULTS. We can sit down, drink a glass a wine, and enjoy each others conversations. Yes, I do get a good rubbing from my freinds about my Faith in God. Remember, even when Atheist are in fox holes, we all call out to the same God.

With that being said, I have nothing more to say to you.

You, sir, are the one who quoted scripture in response to the OP. It wasn't relevant nor necessary to the topic at hand.

And I'm not an atheist, BTW.

You are bringing attention to your heterosexual-ness, and trying to justify it by quoting scripture. Right or wrong (in your opinion, according to your faith), folks have the same right to be gay as you and I do to be "straight".

Hi there,

Thus far I'm only aware of two same-sex fiancé visa interviews, one in Indonesia (only beneficiary attended) and one in Italy (both petitioner and beneficiary attended). Both couples were approved and reported that the interview experience was positive. We have our interview in Rio on January 7. I think that the best advice would be to review the interview reports from the Manila Embassy, so your fiancé will be familiar with the type of questions that are typically asked, and think about his responses. He should also familiarize himself with all of the paperwork associated with your petition, so he can respond to any questions about the documents.

I'm sure that the added stress of a relocation hasn't been easy, but please know that you have our support and best wishes!

we are on same sex couple also,and our interview date is on jan 30,2014 at manila embassy.were just waiting for the interview date for now,bec were done on medical exam at st lukes.and finish the seminar at CFO.

Perhaps gays are as proad proud to be gay as you are to be straight.

And just because you subscribe to the concept that a mythical being came down from "heaven", changed form from an "adult spirit" in the image of his father, was "born unto a virgin mother", led a life without sin, then died "so that we may be saved", and ascended again to "heaven to be with his father", does not mean that everyone else follows your belief. So bringing scripture to a thread about obtaining a visa may be a tad off the point...

wish I met you when I was younger, then I would've not been forced to read the whole bible.. you summed it up pretty well!

maybe they just said they are a same-sex couple because they are processing the visa in a country that doesn't recognize same sex couples, therefore they are looking for comfort by searching for positive stories of couples in the same situation. that bible text was totally unnecessary.

Hi Guys. Sorry to hear about the devastation during the storm. I hope all family is well. We just had our interview on 25 NOV at Manila. It was a sucess! Cesario is traveling this month to the US. We are able to watch the status updates as they take place on the CEAC website. We just saw the status change to updated as of today and are confident that it indicates the visa packet is ready. We will buy the plane ticket once he has the visa packet. Don't forget the CFO requirement. We almost did, though he met a nice girl walking out together and the struck up a conversation about the CFO rquirement and so he took down the information. He said everyone he spoke with was SUPER nice and the Filipina lady who interviewed him wanted him to go out and get me...i stood outside for four hours....four hours. The guards kept moving me along, but they did so with a smile. There is actually a waiting area over to the left of the entry. There are about 200 Filipinos waiting there for their family. Also you won't be allowed to take any electronic devices into the consulate, so leave them in your room or you stay outside. They said that the Fiances could not go in, but that is not true. Many men accompanied their beautiful Filipina girlfriends into the consulate office. After it was all said and done, the deputy chief sent a personal note congratulating both of us on the approval and asked us to share our story, which we are trying to figure out the best way to do so. Be there on time for the appointment, but know, that appointment time is not just for you....it's for you and about 100 others. Just be there on time. He wlll need to show the guard the notice of action from USCIS and the appt letter he received from the consulate. From there he will go through a series of windows and people. and he will wait and wait and wait. Take photos as they will ask for them. I believe you should take the I-134 too. Either that or W2s or pay stubs. The way we looked at it was that we carried a lot just in case. We were more prepared than the boyscouts. He was a nervous wreck. But came out talking about how nice they were and how comfortable the whole thing was. On the logistical side we stayed over at teh H2O manila hotel in the aquarium park. it was pretty cool, but for heaven's sake don't choose a bay view room. Manila bay is not so clean. Choose an aquarium room. It is a real treat.
