Here's a draft list I'm preparing which I intend to send as the package's first page:

(I am most likely not using a lawyer this time)

- COVER LETTER – US NATURALIZATION APPLICATION package list:

  • [ ] This Cover Letter (1 page);
  • [ ] A photocopy of both sides of Permanent Resident Card (front and back) (1 page);
  • [ ] 2 identical (passport?) color photographs, with name and Alien Registration Number. (A# written lightly in pencil on the back of each photo -as per USCIS instructions- and on Ziploc bag);
  • [ ] N-400 – Application for Naturalization, signed & dated ##### (## pages);
  • A [ ] check or [ ] money order for the application fee and biometrics services fee for fingerprinting in the amount of $______ ($680 as of July 2013 – 595+85) payable to: "Department of Homeland Security". A# on the back of check or money order;

- Proof that earlier marriage ended:

  • [ ] Copy of divorce decree, dated _______ (## pages);
  • [ ] Separate List: Time Spent Outside the United States, specifying each trip (# pages).

Am I missing something? It's simple this time, right? Anyone has a list already?

hi

i am a December filer and i have a question about the N400 application.

I am married to a US citizen, have been in US for 4 years(L1) and a permanent resident for the past 3 years.

** In the N400 application, part 7 A: How many total days did you spend outside the US in the pst 5 years?

I am confused about this calculation since i have only been leaving in the US for 4 years . Please advise

** How many trips of 24 hrs have you taken outside the US in the past 5 years?

Again i am confused since i have only spent the past 4 years in the US.

Any advise you can provide is highly appreciated!

Thank you all

Well, it is pretty self-explanatory:

If you are filing N-400 based on the 3 year marriage rule, and you have been in the US for 4 years, they would wanna know how many days in total did you spend outside of the USA?. Just count the total days of trips taken abroad since you became a permanent resident and write them there.

USCIS just want to see the total days you have spent outside of the country to establish your eligibility for Naturalization.

Hi everyone and welcome! I just did a table as I had more trips than the space available on the form, on page 4. Feel free to use it for your application ( I hope you can copy it to Excel and Word and fill it) smile.png

Edit: Unfortunately it didn't work to paste the table here... I can send it to anyone who's interested. Let me know.

I am not applying based on marriage so it's best if I don't answer and mislead you. I am sure someone who's knowleadgeable will appear here to answer soon. Did you double check the VJ link with instructions? http://www.visajourney.com/content/naturalization_guide

Good luck!

Yes that is correct, you have to answer all of the questions. And just state the time you have spent outside of the USA in the past 3 years since you have been in the USA only 4 years. Hope this helps
