Wondering if my fellow Canadians would share with me the best online websites they found for ordering Canadian products. I have been searching and am wondering what are your favorite sites. I am living in the USA and am trying to order favorites things that can be delivered here.

Thanks

There used to be a list on here, but from what many found out is that they are very expensive with horrific shipping fees.

So what type of "canadian" items are you looking for? Remember, a lot of things people assume are Canadian are actually British and you can find them in the British section of specialty stores or even in some chains of grocery stores (World Market, Wegmans, etc).

For instance, Smarites are a British candy not Canadian so they are around quite a bit in British sections. Ketchup chips on the other hand are Canadian and that you would have a more difficult time trying to find without either going to Canada or online for example...

http://www.canadianfavourites.com/, amazon, ebay. Probbaly the best way is for friends/family to ship it down to you.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Ketchup chips are not hard to find in Chicago anymore. Herr's makes a Heinz Ketchup chip which you can get at Meijer or Walmart, and Meijer even has a version of All Dressed thats not too bad. Unfortunately there are no Lay's Ketchup ones here though sad.png those are my fav.

The one food i want that i cannot get is Montreal Style Bagels. Bagels absolutely suck down here. St-Viateur in Montreal will ship them, but its damn expensive.

Ketchup chips do vary on location and there has been several attempts at bringing them here. Walmart had a version (think it was the Herr's) a decade ago and Walgreens used to sell Burger King Ketchup chips as well. Though in terms of taste, none of them ever compared to the brand you get in Canada. The ones here I've had have all tasted "not quite right".

But yeah you can find them around though, but here anyways I haven't seen them in the store since 2007. So it probably will vary depending on your location (probably proximity to Canada, or cities with large Canadian pops like LA)...

Yea I don't like the Herr's brand Ketchup chips.

My parents are coming o visit in 2 weeks and are bringing me some cake and pastry flour, Tenderflake lard and Ketchup as well. I should ask for some chips or some more VH Plum sauce as well. Mmm...plum sauce!

Shipping is nuts for my family too, so I stocked up in July. I sure don't have 3 yrs worth of stuff, but will stretch it out as much as possible. Most of the Canadian food online stores are pretty expensive, but I guess if you get really desperate they would work. I did find a lot on Amazon.

I never thought to look at Amazon for that stuff. the VH stuff i miss so bad especially the dry garlic spare rib sauce. Luckily some of the little ethnic stores carry my 5 roses flour yay. i was soo excited to see that cuz the flour here sucks lol. they only use soft wheat whereas up north its all hard wheat = higher protein=more gluten = better fro baking vol au vonts etc. :)

This thread is fairly amusing to me - other than Tim Horton's coffee (which you can get from them or amazon) I can't think of anything I'd want from here I couldn't get there. I actually do most of my big grocery shopping across the border because of things I can't get HERE.

Yea I like baking with Monarch brand, which I can't find here (or cake and pastry flour either...at least in my area).

My husband bought some stuff from canadianfavourites.com before I moved here and had everything set up in a nice display for me (he was the one that made a fake account here back in 2011 to find out ideas from people what to get, mainly hoping I would respond myself, but I didn't lol!). He said it was very expensive, but worth it to see my reaction!

I am lucky enough to be able to go home a few times a year and as I said earlier my parents will be here in 2 weeks (for Canadian Thanksgiving!), so I know they are bringing some stuff down for me. They will be here for Christmas too! Yay!

LOL Tim Horton's coffee is the last coffee I'll buy that's a Canadian brand. I miss my Kicking horse coffee. :(

There are spices and packages of sauces I'm used to buying I can't get down here. Honey garlic sauce is unheard of.... especially on wings. :(

And all this is why I'm pretty sure I'll be packing more ketchup (I don't like American ketchup) and honey garlic sauce than personal belongings!

Met in 2010 on a forum for a mutual interest. Became friends.

I packed two large ketchup, a case of white cheddar KD and all my spices I currently had. Next time I visit Canada I'll make a shopping list of items!

SO MANY people think I am strange for saying that. There is a HUGE difference, and even the Simply Heinz version, which is less sweeter than the regular Heinz ketchup here in the USA, still tastes off to me.
