denied k1 visas...advice on what to do next

So sorry about that. You will have to find out why it was denied. Have you upload your petition, or have you guys play role play games? The only thing that you could do is file for another K1 after finding out the reason it was denied. K1 visas are not reaffirmed and going to get married isn't always a good choice. It still could be a redflag. Good luck on your journey

First the petitioner can try to keep the petition at the embassy through senatorial request and insist on another interview. Slim chance.

If you do this it has to be done as soon as possible, as in today.
If it gets returned (most likely) get the diplomatic pouch number from the returned case through the senator.

It may take around 6 months for the petitioner to receive a letter from USCIS stating that you can re file a petition.
Here are your options : Marry and file a CR1.

Re file for a K1.

Know the reason you were refused the visa.

Go through the entire interview over and over again until you have an idea what the CO did not like. Usually there are clues.
If you received a 221g paper post it here with personal info blocked out so we can see the exact reason if one was given.
Know your red flags, what are they ? Address them the next time around.

Many K1's are refused and returned in Lagos and often the reason given is "For immigration benefits only" and that means

that the CO does not believe your relationship is genuine. Sometimes the evidence is not looked at and the mind already made up before your 5 min. interview, other times a long interview will reveal something the CO did not like.
You have to overcome that with tenacious effort and evidence.

Next time front load your petition so the CO will see it when the package gets send to the embassy.
This is also a tight rope to walk as overwhelmingly too much evidence is also a fraud indicator and not enough gets you nowhere.

Best wishes ~

any advice on what to do next when a k1 visa is denied and in the process of being sent back

Is hard to give advice or tell you what to do next if we don't know why it was denied, if the reason is legit or not, and if its something that can be appealed.

k-1 denied at Nigeria?

interviewing officer did not believe it to be a bona fide relationship... happens all to often

Exactly, as I stated above they do not believe the relationship is genuine but often don't give the reason and the

applicant is left clueless. Now he has to play detective to get in the head of the CO and figure out what was lacking to

convince the CO that it is indeed a bona fide relationship, hence he must go over and over again with a fine tooth comb of what exactly was asked and answered during the interview and if the CO focused on something particular.

If he was given a 221g with a reason written on it then he needs to let the forum know so we can give more direct advice.

It was not denied, it was refused pending your submission of more evidence.

Give them what they want as soon as possible.

Nothing to be lost about.

Get going on the evidence.

Your success depends on your next move.

I did her interview was August 20th. We sent all the evidence we could August 22nd. How much longer do you think it will take? Thanks for responding

It depends on each individual case. You may get better answers if you post this as a new topic in your regional

forum so someone who had the same experience at your embassy can tell you how long it took for them. Perhaps a pattern that is embassy

specific may emerge.

Best wishes for a speedy approval.
