If I misread you, then please elaborate, that reads as it's a common issue in the Philippines. Perhaps the wording is off.

It is common in PI for the Male to be older, often much older.

It is not common for it to be an issue.

Elsewhere is different.

PI is not involved in this case.

I am 21 years older than my husband, we are very much in love, before we met he neither had the want or need to come to the US. I deal with the looks and stares and snide remarks from family, friends and total strangers every day of the week. I don't care what people say or think, it doesn't bother us(we never even think of the difference). He has been here a year and our marriage has only become stronger since he arrived. The judgmental remarks in this thread piss me off, but it isn't surprising. There will always be a double standard where it is fine for a man to be much older, even getting a pat on the back but when it's the woman it's disgusting and vile. Get a grip people.

Now to the OP; a case cannot not be denied based on age alone, there must have been lack of evidence for a bonafide relationship. Perhaps you can have the actual US citizen whose fiance was denied pay us a visit so we get more details and thus get a better perspective on what actually went down at the interview.

The age gap shouldn't not affect in the decision of a couple doesn't matter how big is the difference but the circumstances around them that drove to get a red flag (or more than one).

But I would said, as I read, a man in his 20's is marrying a woman in her 50's with no possibility to have families, coming from a culture where the children are considered a blessing, it sounds actually somewhat strange and in the sight of the consul is hard to believe (sorry to be harsh but that is the truth as I see). Yes, they have met multiple times but in comparison with other far country like Philippines or UK, a Caribbean nation is practically too close to the U.S. (unless the USC lives in Alaska or Hawaii).

My regards.

children are considered blessing to everyone, no matter the age of the couple or where they are from. But it doesn't mean that everyone wants children, my husband doesn't

There's a major cultural difference in the Philippines; the young Philippine women are by default attracted to older, more stable (both financially and emotionally) men who are ready to settle down.

No. I come from the Philippines and it's not true that women there "are by default attracted to older, more stable men." Stable, likely yes, but older, not really. You'd rarely find, if ever you would, a Filipina dating or marrying a fellow Filipino who is 25 years older than her or more. It's strange to see why they don't mind having relationships with so much older men from a foreign country. By "older men" I mean those who are at least 20 years older than a Pinay.

I am older than my fiancee by 25 years and some may think there are arterial motives, but so be it. I won't try and convince anyone what I know to be true.

My fiancee's best friend married a man 35 years older about two years ago, and I've never seen a woman more in love with her husband. Both of these women went to college and are not just looking for a visa. Believe me, they need more than that to fall in love. So don't be so quick to judge based on age.

I've seen many people granted visa's with huge age differences, so although it may be a flag, it's not the single determining factor. There may be more to the application rejection than just that.

Good luck...

Honestly all the snide remarks about the age difference is childish and petty.

Its their lives, they are adults and will do as they please. Who are you to judge? They're happy and that's all that matters.

There's a major cultural difference in the Philippines; the young Philippine women are by default attracted to older, more stable (both financially and emotionally) men who are ready to settle down. This is not limited to men of other countries, this is just in general. There are plenty of Philippine women who date men their age too -- but the trend tends to be towards older more stable men.

Please tell me what is wrong with two consenting adults being in a relationship regardless of the age difference? The men and women who are romantically involved with someone who is much younger than them are well aware of the implications this may have -- but they chose to get involved anyways.

In my opinion, they're not hurting anyone, they want to be together, so as far as I am concerned it is none of my business.

I am a young professional woman who is 31 years old and my fiance is a young laborer who is 24. While the age gap isn't 10 or even 20 years, we're both blissfully in love and happy. We're also well aware that there are connotations and implications which society places judgment on us with. We simply don't care and can't imagine ourselves with anyone else.

We all come here because we fell in love despite the distance and are looking for both information and emotional support during a very trying process. This young man or woman is coming to you seeking support and knowledge for herself or her friend and you have the audacity to verbally assault their relationship? I'm disgusted.

AMEN!!!
