In Sweden we celebrate midsummer by dressing up a pole with flowers. Then we jump like frogs around it while singing we are small frogs....

We did something similar for May day. We held streamers and flowers and danced around the May pole.No froggies though !

In the USA Midwest, there are few major cities, the space of the cities can be vast. Some cities are considered the murder capital of the US, but it is in relation to number of incidents per capita. There are a lot of farm land, corn, wheat, beans, and fruit are the major products. There are several words for soft drink in the midwest. You will hear soda, pop, pepsi (can mean anything that is a soda) We fry anything and it tastes good.

There are different names for soft drinks every place you go in the US. We call it Tonic in the north east but it was Pop when I visited my grandparents in North Dakota where tonic would have got me medicine or a hair product! When I went to Georgia for a business trip I was asked would I like a Coke, an Orange Coke, an Diet Coke Coke, a rootbeer Coke...so I guess everything there is a a Coke. In Scotland a soda is a Juice just to confuse me some more.

That's what my family in Los Angeles has always done on New Years, just as it hits midnight. Well, going outside, banging pots and pans, and celebrating, anyway. I think our neighbors always hated us

In Texas when its ones birthday money is pinned to you clothes all day so at work, on the street, in a store,or by friends you have this long trail of bills

,

$1, 5 10, 20 50 depending on your circle of ppl it becomes a lot, while walking on the street most will remove the bills leaving say $3 and still

strangers will run up and pin another bill, so when you see someone with bills pinned on its their birthday pin one on too. I guess not in all states they

do or can do this .

Interesting facts:

So we now have the title of fattest country, at least for child obesity/ diabetes. We also consume more sodas than any other place. Which explains the diabetes.

It is one of the countries with more taxis in the world.

There are around 10,000 deaths associated with air pollution every year. Mexico City is the second most populated city in the world.

Less sad facts:

It is the 4th country in terms of biodiversity, around 10-12% of all the species in the world can be found here.

In 2010 Mexican food became a global cultural asset.

one of my favorite facts:

In the 80's, PEMEX (oil) workers found a drastic change in density while searching for oil. It was actually the meteorite that killed the dinosaurs 65 million years ago.

It is located in Chicxulub, in the Yucatán peninsula. Is that cool or what?

was Pop when I visited my grandparents in North Dakota

This is true. We call it pop. Midday meal is called either "lunch or dinner" and the evening meal is called "supper". We are strange I guess but at least you can understand our accent :P

Facts about Nicaragua:

*It's the second poorest country in the western hemisphere (Haiti is #1)

*In Leon, there's a super old, huge, really cool cathedral that was accidentally sent to the wrong city in the 1700s. Was supposed to go to Peru but ended up in Nicaragua.

*The national sport is baseball although soccer is gaining popularity.

*It's a land of lakes and volcanoes, many of which are still active.

*There are two main dialects. Miskito which is on the carribbean coast whose people are of African descendent; and there's the Mayagnas people which are native people. Creole is also spoken there

*There's a lake that has freshwater sharks that are not found anywhere else.

*It's got the lowest crime rate than any other Central American country.

     * It's the largest country in Central America

     * The national dish is gallo pinto (painted rooster) which is beans and rice. and it's delicious

*You should visit there because it's a wonderful country with wonderful people!
