Police Clearances NBI AND Barangay Clearances??

Okay my spouse has her NBI clearance. I keep reading in the visa requirements that Police Clearances are needed. Does this apply to Philippines? She previously had Barangay clearances, do we need to submit these also?? Just got our IV bill email and wanted to make sure they do not need Barangay clearances. (I think we had to obtain those for her to get her passport.) Anyone know the answer to this one?

if she has only lived in Philippines, only NBI clearance is needed. Barangay clearances have not been needed for many years.

Barangay Clearance is not required.

*POLICE CERTIFICATES: A police certificate is required from a country in which the applicant lived for more than one year (six months if you are applying for a K visa) after turning 16 years of age. As with NBI clearances, foreign police certificates should be obtained in any maiden names, married names, aliases or nicknames ever used while in the country in question, including different spellings of all names ever used. Information on how to secure police certificates from countries where these are available may be obtained by contacting U.S. Embassy Manila’s Immigrant Visa Branch or an Embassy/Consulate of the country from which the police certificate is required.

Police clearance is needed if the beneficiary lived or worked abroad (outside the Philippines) for 6 MONTHS (for K1) / 12 MONTHS (for IR/CR and other visa types) or more. They need to get police clearance from that foreign country.

If the beneficiary lives and works in the Philippines only, the NBI clearance (the GREEN one) is all they need.

Barangay clearance is NOT needed.

Hi, just want to share my experience about police clearance. I got a checklist about it and required by NVC to state the date you resided. What happened is that the province where I went thru were so frustrating bec some barangay wont give clearance bec i was not anymore staying the place. So how is that how could I get police clearance and what I did I wrote a letter to NVC and explained everything. i hope they will consider.

Furthermore, barangay clearance is a requirement to get a police clearance. PNP wont issue without it. Just curious about this thing how come NVC required this? I thought only NBI. If I only knew that it requires in IV package I should have done it earlier than waiting for a checklist which make more delays!!!! Grrrrr

Sorry to say, you are wrong apple21. NVC requires police certificate in reference to ds-230 in number 30 where you have been resided since at the age of 16 with a minimum of 6 months for PI. Are you done at NVC? Are you already case complete?

Lots of people (including my husband) from various visa categories have completed their cases at NVC submitting only an NBI clearance.

Maybe you are one of the few exceptions though.

Just to clear my previous post, barangay clearance is not a requirement for the NVC stage.

Yes, that is my experience too. I did not submit local police clearance and was required by nvc to do so. so i submitted all police clearances where i have resided officially (not including dormitories) for more than 6months. Only 1 out of 4, required a barangay clearance of the places where i stayed. MAnila, quezon city, and valenzuela all did not require me to submit a barangay clearance. So no, not all municipalities or city require a barangay clearance, but here where i presently reside (province) they did require me to present a barangay clearance, a municipal court clearance and mayors clearance just to release my local police clearance.

Anyway i guess its up to the place where you reside what their requirements are. But yes, you do need local police clearance to go along with your ds230 and your nbi.

But when you get to the interview, you only need to update your nbi if it lapses its validity date (1year from date of issue).

Lucky of you never stayed in other places in the country unlike me four places since birth...that is why very hassle and irritated especially dealing with barangay secretaries bec they are not flexible to situation like mine. You cant persuade them to changes and very ignorant about visa requirements.

You dont need to get police clearance in places where you resided before you were 16. Consider only 16 up. Why dont you just try getting a police clearance from where you presently reside. Just to make things simple. Then wait and see if nvc will still require you to present police clearances from those other places where you resided after 16 years of age. Dont stress yourself out too much.
