NVC Filers - April 2013

I would call NVC and demand it be looked into, I think 3 weeks is way too long after case complete.

No point. Remember, there is no "definitive" time frame for an interview to be scheduled. It can take MONTHS for an interview to be scheduled. Just because most people get it within a couple of weeks does not mean everyone does. It varies by consulate/embassy. Some don't have a backlog thus interview dates are scheduled more quickly, while others do have a backlog and it takes awhile for an interview date to be scheduled.

and what about Pakistan, if we get a case complete in April?

Sorry, I only know Canada because I only researched that country. You need to do your own research. Start here: http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/k1list.php?cfl=0&op1=3&op2=d&op3=5&op4=1&op5=5,6,8,10,11,13,14,15,16,17,18,20,21,22,25,26,27,28,108,110,111,208,210,211&op6=All&op7=Pakistan&dfile=No&adv=

Just got an email from NVC that my supporting IV documents were received. Thoughts on how long until a case complete? :)

Possibly by Friday!!

Hi all!

Happy Easter!

NVC Received I-864 Package Mar 18, and they approved DS-3032 Mar 27.

We paid IV bill Mar 29 via internet.

Does that mean that NCV approved AOS or we will receive special document confirming that?

Remember, AOS and IV are two separate tracks at NVC that have nothing to do with one another. If you want to find out your AOS was approved, you'll need to call up NVC and ask. Simple as that.

Saylin,

So I called this morning and when the lady told me what emails she had for hubby and I she said the right email for me. So I told her the situation and she said it looked like they had updated the email for me on March 26th. So I was thinking maybe they updated it after I sent in the DS-261. So everything is good again thank gosh, because I was a little stressed out! Although now whoever it may be who they sent the other correspondence to now has my full name and address in Canada and my Husbands full name and our address in Kentucky! Haha, oh well though hopefully they are half decent and just deleted the emails!

Glad it was all sorted out good.gif

And yes, let's hope if that email address does exist, that they simply deleted the email!

Checking in! Finally paid the IV and AOS bills. Waiting to fill in the DS260.

Not sure if I should be asking this question here..

Getting really stressed out looking the I864 form that my FIL needs to fill in. He files his taxes jointly with my MIL, so looking at their tax transcripts = the adjusted gross income is well above 125% of poverty guideline. I dont know if that number is their combined income..if so, can I just have him fill the I864 and use that income OR have to fill the I864 for him and the I864A for MIL?

When the joint sponsor files taxes jointly, you have two options:

1. The main sponsor files an I-864 and their spouse files an I-864A, and a copy of their tax transcripts

2. The main sponsor files an I-864, includes the tax transcripts, as well as a copy of their W2s to prove their own individual income

On the tax transcript, that number is combined. If you want to do option 2, you'll have to make sure he makes enough on his own for his household size (which will be a minimum of three at least: himself, his spouse, and the intending immigrant).

Have they told you yet if your file has arrived in NVC?

Regardless you belong with us now.

We just keep moving from month to month as a group and some stay on ‘cause they miss the conversation. :)

Hi Saylin,

My husband is the main sponsor but has not US income as he's currently living and working in Canada, so FIL is the joint sponsor.

If I go with option 1, do I list their combined income on the I864 for my FIL? I know on both the I864 and I864A they ask for individual income..since I dont have their w2 at the moment, what should I do?

When I said "main sponsor", I meant to put "main joint sponsor", sorry! blush.gif

For the question about the amounts from previous tax returns, that's when you'd put their combined income from the tax transcript. The question about annual individual income is how much they're individually making. If you don't have W2s, and only tax transcripts, then you'd have to go with option 1.

Don't forget, either way, you'll also need proof of his/their US citizenship/residency.

ya, I-864 on the FIL, I-864A on the MIL, because the two of them filed 'married filing jointly' and they do live in the same household.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Thanks Saylin!

Just to double check, hypothetically if their adjusted gross income on their joint tax transcript is $55000, do I put that amount for Q23 for FIL's I864 and Q10 for MIL's I864A? I feel so stupid asking these questions but I'm really not used to the US tax transcripts, the Canadian ones are so different and much easier to figure out.
