I assume each case is different and they say it can take up to 6 months. Never the less, I had mine within 3 weeks so I would think you should have it fairly quick.

I got mine within 3 weeks too.

You folks can't be serious. Entering the US does not get you a green card at all. APPLYING and PAYING for the greencard gets you in line to eventually hopefully be granted one. We filed in May and it is now just about April and we are still waiting. And waiting. And waiting.

We did get AP (travel permission) and work authorization in 3 months--but we had to call and request expedite to get that. As far as the right to stay here, we are still in limbo and well aware that it is NOT a guarentee.

For our SS cards (mine, too--name change), it was 2 weeks. That was actually the easiest thing we had done. I still haven't had luck getting my professional liscense changed. Sigh.

If you enter the U.S. on an immigrant visa (i.e. someone filed a I-130 petition for you while you were abroad, and it was approved, and you went to a consulate and was interviewed etc. and got an immigrant visa), then you become a permanent resident on entering the U.S., and they will mail you the physical card. This is the OP's situation.

I see. I would guess that if the OP wanted information specific to only his/her visa, then that info would have been included in the title. As it appears, the responses here feel like teasing a room full of tigers. We have waited so long. I am seriously very concerned about our being penalized because of the delays--having to redo medical exams or whatever, for example. Costly penalties. This week marks 2 years that we made our very first steps in this process. If only we had known then...

If you look to the left of the post at the member information you will see they filed for a spousal visa. It is a completely different process than the visa you filed for.

Moving from New Life in America to the IR-1/CR-1 Visa Process forum to avoid more confusion.

The OP posted in the CR1/IR1 forum, not the K1 forum. So the answers they have received are correct. The K1 process is different... all together..... honestly you seem to be getting upset, when in fact you are looking in the wrong forum.....

are you on a handphone, can't see the sub-forum title or the posters visa type ?

Handphones suck for VJ usage, as you miss out on about 80 percent of the functionality of the web site.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

To be fair, this post was originally in the "New Life In America" forum when EminTX replied to it and was subsequently moved to the CR1 forum later!

Ya, I read that later.

Handphones do suck, though, for this web portal.
