MSC case number

I was just curious if somebody knows these details:

If case number starts with MSC, does that automatically mean it was sent to National Benefits Center (NBC)?

I know there are other 3-letter codes for other centers, but would like to know are all MSC's at NBC or is that not a guarantee? And what about cases that get transferred between centers, do they still have the original code based on the first center?

Yes, an MSC receipt means that it was sent initially to the National Benefits Centre.

This does mean that it won't be transferred to other places however, since it will always retain the MSC prefix, but it will at least start out life at the NBC.

I didn't know that was the case. How come then if you look at VJ timelines, for IR-1/CR-1 for example, there are plenty of recent filers listed under VCS and TCS, even CSC, in addition to NBC?

Here are some interesting numbers:

Between (roughly) Dec 11-18 2012, there were over 33,000 case numbers that start with MSC (National Benefits Center only?).

Of those, 10,000 were I-130 petitions. (that's just in that one week!)

As of 03/22/13, 3,245 of those I-130s are approved, 614 rejected.

13% were approved in 72-79 days

24% were approved in 79-86 days

32% were approved in 86-93 days

36% were approved in 93-100 days.

A week later, the approval rate of those mid-December 10K petitions is at 40%, which is only about 500 more cases.

I queried all MSC case numbers from mine backwards until I found 10,000 I-130 petitions, and have been following them ever since on the USCIS case status web site. Some people check few numbers before and after their case, I just look at bigger pool of numbers.

We filled around the same time. Hang in there. They are working on some, but we obviously are not in the 40% lucky ones.

I filled in dec 12/3 pd and still not heard any thing I am following 10-15 numbers us and minus my case I have see approvals for dec 4th filings and a few for ones filled in nov 2012. I am really tired checking the uscis website . I called up CS. Level 2 and they said the case has been transferred to your local service center and we are waiting to hear back from them.... They have created.a service request .... Lets hope and see ... I

This week's data: 43% of mid-December fillers have been approved in 110 days or less. That is another 300 cases approved this week.

We are one of them, so I will not be following the trends any more. Here is the chart view of the approvals over time.

Unfortunately, it seems they are slowing down with December approvals.

They are averaging only about 280 a week for the last three weeks, compared to ~500 earlier. I hope that means they are approving more of those Jul-Nov cases.

We are up to 49% of mid-December fillers approved in 125 days or less.

These are all MSC case numbers for I-130 petitions filled between Dec 11-18, from USCIS website. There were about 10,000 of them that week.

Our case went through MSC. Two children received approvals at different times. Both cases approved by 2/2020/13. I hope this helps with updating the timeline.
