what is that Dream Act?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DREAM_Act

And yes, the forum is fulllllll of rumors about how the processes are being slown down by other people (haitian, people from dream act... whatever)

Truth is, this is long. And seems to get longer with years if you look at the trends. Don't expect to hear anything before 5 to 7 months, depending on your service center.

Good luck in your visa journey!

From the day we sent I-129F to the day I recieved my K-1: Exactly 9 months

I too got a message "Alien Registration Number Changed..". I was also confused and worried. But I got an approval after 3 days. So What I assume and learnt from other posts as well is that this is a positive thing.

My journey so far

* arrived in US on dependent visa - Dec, 2012

* Got my SSN Dec 2012 (without EAD)

* e filed I 765 - Jan 1st week, 2013

* Alien registration number changed message - Jan 3rd week

* Biometrics appointment - Jan end

* Approval Jan end (so today I got the approval). pretty quick, according to me

I also received this message:

On January 28, 2013, your Alien Registration Number was changed relating to your I129F, PETITION FOR FIANCE(E).

I filed to Vermount on January 14. We expect the approval to be in 5 months but who knows maybe some few applications are treated differently. I hope this message means the process is going faster for one reason or another.

Please leep informing us if you get the same messge and the the approval.

Thanks

Unfortunately USCIS increase the time to 6.1 months for K-1 Visa from Vermont

https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/Dashboard/CaseStatus.do

I thought I heard it was now 7.2 for k1 at Vermont?

From reading the forum, it looks like every single person that filed recently (within the past two months or so) gets that message about a week after NOA 1. It means absolutely nothing. I got it too, and that was almost a month ago.
