The below is from a webchat from the Cairo embassy last year.

CG Powers: (15:43) Contrary to some may believe, having a large bank account is not a requirement for getting a visa. In reality, there are no specific documents needed in order to be eligible for visa. Should an officer ask to see your bank accounts, they will most likely be looking at the stability of the account rather than its balance. What is important is demonstrating to the officer that you do not intend to remain in the US and that you will have a compelling reason to return home following a temporary visit.

Have you considered going on a group tour ? Once you have done this a second trip might be easier.

what do you mean group tour? last time i was in usa was this year in july.. i got an internship at Indiana University bloomington, but we did travel to washington d.c. and georgia. it was with a big group of other students in africa.
