Re: the UK Consulate statement at http://london.usemba...faffidavit.html

Assuming that by APPLICANT they mean the person who needs the K1(me in the UK) rather than the person who has petitioned for it (the USC) then it seems from reading that my income and assets can be included. Am I wrong in this interpretation ? I thought that only applied to CR1 and not K1.

It will make my situation easier if this is true as my fiance won't be in full time work (following college) until a few months before my likely interview date. Whilst we can probably find a co-sponsor it would be easier if we can also use my assets and continuing UK income as assets too.

I'm posting here because judging by other threads it seems like the UK consulate reads things a bit different

I agree with your interpretation. You can also use your fiance's job information, even if brand new. It doesn't have to be on the tax return if you can document the current income with an employer letter. The part of the I-134 that says I earn $_______ a year is the new job monthly salary x12. It's not what the tax return shows for the previous year.

Just so ya know, it's the US Consulate. It just happens to be in London, which is in the UK. :P

Not sure what you mean by using your "continuing UK income" as an asset. We can presume you won't have that income once you move to the US.......

Your cash assets that you have saved up can win you self-sponsorship at the window in London. Hand them 12 months bank statements to prove those assets.

Thanks for all the comments - including the semantics

Good to hear. I have a business in the UK which will continue to operate when I'm in the US for various reasons - hence the continuing income bit.

Primary cash asset will be property equity so I guess another question is will they need me to have realised that equity by the time of the interview. It would be more convenient if they didn't.

They want to see cash.
