Hello everyone,

I tried looking at VJ's timeline section for AOS and I'm not hugely computer literate, so alas, I couldn't make sense of it! I figured I would just put a post out there to try and figure out roughly how long this AOS portion will take. Obviously I know that it's case dependant and service center dependant, I'd just like to get a rough idea based on how long all of yours took - or are taking. :) So please feel free to give me a 'month count' or 'day count' or dates! :D I'd love to have something to compare my case to! :)

I sent off my completed packet yesterday (10/2). I am super excited to be starting this next step in the visa process! yay!!!

Thanks!

Congratulations! I am not hugely computer literate either and am just starting to do my research to prepare for our AOS when the time comes, but from what this link looks like, AOS is between 100 to 150 days.

Timeline

It can take 2-3 months to a year, difficult to have a more precise idea. If your case goes to your local office quickly, it will basically be fast. If your case is transferred to CSC, be prepared for a long wait.

Yeah, it completely depends on the case being sent to local office or CSC. CSC means longer wait. Local offices are sometimes backlogged as well. After your biometrics appointment, you'll typically get a notification on where your case gets sent to. Then you can take it from there and look into the processing time at the local office or the current processing times at CSC.

Please don't be discouraged from months of waiting for greencard if that will be the case. I literally did not notice a difference from only having EAD to having greencard. Naturally, it was good to have it over with but honestly, the EAD made it possible to get started with job, driving around and feeling like a human again(adapting). That took around 2 months from NOA1 to approved for me.

K1 process, October 2010 > POE, July 2011

I-129F approved in 180 days from NOA1 date. (195 days from filing to NOA2 in hand)

Interview took 224 days from I-129F NOA1 date. (241 days from filing petition until visa in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until POE: 285 days

Click timeline or "about me" for all details.

AOS process, December 2011 > July 2012

EAD/AP Approval took 51 days from NOA1 date to email update. (77 days from filing until EAD/AP in hand)

AOS Approval took 206 days from NOA1 date to email update. (231 days from filing until greencard in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until greencard in hand: 655 days

Yeah, that's what happened to us and we're still waiting 5 months out. They told us it was to help "speed up the process." HA!

We didn't have the money to do the EAD so we have to wait for the greencard. But thankfully I make a decent living and because he hasn't been able to work and our income isn't as high as it would be otherwise, we were approved for a special home loan and will be moving into our own home at the end of November! So it all works out for the best!

Hi Victoria! :) We filed at the same time! I'm super excited too and I really hope everything gets approved quickly and smoothly. From what I've read, AOS dates vary a lot but my timeline is saying the EAD and AP should be approved in two months. I'd love to have my guy get the green card ASAP, but if we can get the EAD and AP before Christmas or at least around the beginning of next year, that would be great!

EAD (I765) is free when submitted at the same time or after AOS. All you have to do is fill it out, add the required evidence and then copy of NOA1 from AOS. The fee is vawied when doing it that way. RIght now, you're AOS may be adjudicated before if you were to file the EAD however, you can do it. I'm just sorry you didn't know that beforehand. COngrats on the loan though!

Thank You guys so much for giving me a better idea about these things. I had no idea they could send it to CSC, so I guess we will wait and see.

I'm hoping it will be fairly quick - I want to go back to the UK in March for my mother's wedding... I know there's that form for travel you can send in, but I'm hoping it wont come to that!
