What is the best arabic bakery? I need to find one that is willing to ship to California. We decided that for our holiday gift at work we would buy boxes of baklava for everyone. I need 150 boxes. Help! :help:

Shatila is I think one of the best in MI...also I know they ship....try them online JP! I know of a few those like Al Hallab bakery on Warren Ave in Dearborn...but not sure if they ship. I donnot like Golden Bakery or Jasmine Bakery...

Its one of those foods that is considered "mediterranian" I think it might be turkish in origin. Anyhow, we call it beklaweh not baklava, and we don't use honey in our syrup. The greek version is alot richer, sweeter than the arab version.

I personally donnot like New Jasmine bakery...everytime I have went there...their baked sweet goods tasted day old...they are more famous for their bread then their sweets...again I would suggest Shatila or Al Hallab...I know Shitila ships all around North America...but not sure about Al Hallab... All they do is desserts (Mid East and French) They also do gelato and cofee bar...but I guess that would not appy to you JP!

TravelAdvisor.com has also voted them best all around!... check them out!

New Yasmine makes great bread but I'm not sure about pastries. Masri is best for kunafa. My personal fave is Yassine's. Shatila is the most famous but not one of my favorites. I think Masri is best all around.

I grew up in Ohio and I'm always surprised when people say it's in the midwest. We never considered it that growing up. It was always just "the north".
