missed biometrics appointment

Hi,

My biometrics was scheduled on the 14th of September and i missed it. I'm going to reschedule it tomorrow. Just wanted to know how this will affect my AOS application.anyone with same experience?

Can someone please tell me how to get email and/text notifications?

Sept 14 was a week ago... so if you still haven't gone in to the place, there is chance they will deny you for failure to appear. I would show up Monday (or try tomorrow if they are open) and get your fingerprints done. You can show the appointment letter you have for the 14th and they will let you in.

This is not something you should take lightly.

Agreed. Biometrics needs to be rescheduled beforehand. If you don't get your fingerprints done before USCIS notices, basically, they'll deny you and you will have to pay to refile or reopen. Calling to reschedule won't guarantee anything - USCIS notoriously does NOT communicate rescheduling requests. Walk in first thing Monday if you can.

Honestly, on the weekend, I'm not sure there is much to be done. You could call USCIS and ask to speak to a tier 2 person and see what the status of your case is, but AFAIK you probably aren't going to be able to reach them on the weekend. Were I you, I would just go first thing Monday morning and try the walk-in and go from there. Your walk-in will most likely be successful since you're coming late, not early, but if for some reason it isn't you can call USCIS then.

I heard from someone at my local Portland office that you can do biometrics with an INFOPASS appointment. That may only be my local office, but you can schedule something this weekend right on the uscis website so they can at least see that you have something scheduled. Definitely try to go in first thing Monday though, like everyone's said. Good luck!

Typically if you miss your biometrics appointment then your case is automatically denied.

You should speak to a tier 2 ISO on the USCIS misinformation line (1-800-375-5283) and explain the situation, or appear in person at an Infopass appointment, before this happens.

In some places, the INFOPASS place and the biometrics place are separate. I would just go to the biometrics place first thing monday morning. I wouldn't wait on hold with anyone on the phone.

I called them yesterday to ask what is the procedure if you miss your appointment. He told me i need to send a request to reschedule. Based on this, can i assume that my application still is in the process, and no action was taken for not appearing on the 14th?

I would go first thing Monday in the AM. If they don't let you do it there, have the request to reschedule ready to drop in the mail (or even ready to overnight).

Who did you talk to? The person who answers the phone initially works for a call center. They answer questions from scripts and do not have full access to your files so take anything they tell you with a grain of salt.

It says on the biometrics form that if you fail to appear on your scheduled date that your petition is considered abandoned.

I would try and do a walk in on Monday. I hope you are not denied.
