ALL THE TOPICS I READ ABOUT PEOPLE WHO HIRED A LAWYER IS BASICALLY COMPLAINING ABOUT WASTING MONEY ON SOMEONE WHO DOESNT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING. MOST OF THE CASES HAD RFE, AND OBVIOUSLY IS VERY EXPENSIVE. HAVING A LAWYER IS THE BIGGEST WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY, UNLESS, YOU HAVE A REALLY HARD CASE.

MOST OF US, NEVER HIRED A LAWYER. IN MY CASE, MY NOW HUSBAND, FILLED A K1 PETITION FOR ME A YEAR AGO AND NOW IM WAITING FOR MY GREENCARD, AND WE DID IT WITH VISAJOURNEY. IS NOT THAT HARD...JUST READ THE GUIDES AND IF YOU NEED HELP OR HAVE QUESTIONS, JUST ASK..THERE'S ALWAYS PEOPLE HERE WILLING TO HELP.

Why bother with a lawyer when you will be doing all the work anyways? Unless your case is complicated, to me its a waste of money. You will already be spending a lot on form fees and what not. All a lawyer will do, is tell you the information you need to gather for your petition. That information is already conveniently provided here in the guides. Take a look at the guides, ask questions on this site. Like its been said, this site is a wealth of information, not only in the guides, but through the people that have already been through this process.

Is there a particular reason you want to hire a lawyer? If you think there will be issues with your filing, there are different lawyers specialising in different parts of the process, such as Laurel Scott for waivers (if you had previous illegal entries to the USA etc).

If you are simply not comfortable with all the bureaucracy and paperwork, a simple visa preparation firm- there are a few advertising on VJ- can be useful, and cheaper than a good lawyer. But as mentioned, most people here do it themselves.

I'll do it for you, for half the money any lawyer asks for!!!...only joking....as others have said, unless you have a complicated case, don't bother with lawyers: you will actually have to do the bulk of the work yourself even if you go through a lawyer. So, if you do have to do the bulk of the work, why bother paying a lawyer just to submit it for you, you can do it yourself. People on this site are willing to help with any questions you may have during the process: it's the best value for money!!

Agreed. Due to time constraints with work and the ease of working with a translator who helped my fiancee fill out some of the forms, I used one of the firms that advertise at the top of the page. They were top notch, did a great job and are now assisting us with our AOS and EAD/AP. I would highly recommend them to anyone seeking a little help in an otherwise do it yourself process.

We are using easyfiancee visa you can click on them at this website. You gather the info and they review it. They are not laywers we are still waiting but they have responed well to our questions. It is more piece of mind than anything else. They can''t make your process any faster when they send it in it is in the hands of the service center. They will respond to you and your fiancee question which helps.Best of luck

ase for a minimum 3 months. Not only that he made no less than 10 mistakes. All of which I had to correct from information gleaned from this website. That was $1800 down the drain.

YOU are the best immigration attorney for this process. Read and follow the guides and instructions.

Unless you have something unique about your case, be your own lawyer and use VJ. I used a lawyer before I discovered VJ, and not only did it take a long time for them to prepare the initial filing, but we got an RFE for something we submitted to the lawyer in the first place. You will save yourself time and money if you do it yourself. Good luck!

You want to find an attorney with really good penmanship and lots of ink in their toner cartridges.

That's because the lawyer's office will be filling out forms for you to sign. They won't be doing much else unless you have potential problems to address in the filings.

If VJ ever needs a motto or a few words to sum this process up, I'm game for this one.

OP, that goes for you too. USCIS won't be impressed if you show up with the best lawyer in the US. A lawyer can never guarentee that you'll get approved which kind of beats the purpose of getting a lawyer when your case doesn't have any issues. Read a bit on VJ or go over the forms. You've filed your taxes, you're a US citizen, you haven't got relations with any terror organizations etc., then it's more likely a matter of you taking the time to fill out the forms and gather documents needed.

If you are too insecure about it then of course go ahead and find a lawyer.
