I am married to a US citizen and I already filed a petition for a CR1 visa and I am still waiting for it to be processed.
My question is that my passport is valid through May 2013, and I am waiting for my appointment to be scheduled at the US embassy in Amman and I would like to renew my passport but I don’t know if this could be problematic to my case, do you advise me to wait till my visa is issued or is it OK to renew it now, knowing I already sent a copy of my passport to NVC for my file?

You didn't file a petition, your US Citizen spouse did that. You will apply for a visa at a later date.

You have indicated that you are waiting for the petition that was filed on your behalf to be processed? Has it been approved by USCIS? I ask because you said the NVC has a copy of your passport. If the petition has not been approved, the NVC will not have any of your civil documents until they receive the immigrant visa application package from you (Amman cases require use of online forms and electronic processing).
Regardless, the answer to your question is it will not be problematic to renew your passport now. If you wait, the Embassy could delay issuing you a visa until you have a passport with longer validity in your possession.

I see now. My previous answer stands, you can renew your passport at this point and have no issues doing so.
