My understand is that it needs to be originals so you will have to have them couriered from the US to the person who is going to the interview.

My understanding is the I-864 needs to go to the NVC, no need to bring to the interview.

Ohhhh....oooops....my apologies. Then in your case, I believe a copy of I-864 with original signiture would be required.

I know several people on here who got refused the visa for only bringing scanned copies. You won't get denied, but will be told to make another appointment when you have the originals.

That's incorrect. Not having the affidavit of support for the interview can very easily lead to a delay while a copy is requested, obtained, and submitted.

So, I need to send a copy of the I-864 to my wife also? for her interview? Why would the consulate need two copies of the I-864?

Depends on the embassy. Usually a brief other interview as they ask questions about the affidavit of support, but some embassies will let you send in the original I-864 and passport.

I say doesn't matter the reason or wherefore. It is always good if you are anyway going to pay to send stuff via courier to go ahead and put a couple extra copies. You don't pay any more and it only means you sign a few more pages. Better safe than sorry.

I am going to ask on Monday. I think I will just tell her to submit the last page where her signature is.

Thank you very much.

The signature must be original--not scanned or photocopied as this is a legally binding document. All signatures throughout this process must be originals and not copies. The USCIS is very strict about this, Your Embassy may not be, but why risk a delay when it takes about a week to send something half way around the world. As others have said, why not include a few extra copies that are signed as a just in case.

Good luck,

Dave
