i was going with have a monarchy. but, it looks like they're lazy asses too.
and both countries have nationalized healthcare delivery systems.

I find it hard to believe this. In the UK you can't pay your power bill at a drive thru, there are no drive thru pharmacies etc.
Cover your ears, go la-la-la. Maybe that will make The Economist a liar.
But probably not.

There must be a lot of highly active people outside of the area I live in. People don't even walk their dogs here.

It is not so hard if you make use of sophistry, which is the case at hand.
It is no different than saying that GB and Iran both have black top roads, and attempting to equate both countries by exacerbating the actual meaning of such meaningless data.
Are you not surprised they mention GB and Saudi Arabia, but conveniently leave out Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Japan, Switzerland and others out of the comparison?
