Hey all,
Quick question as I am panicking a little bit. I am attending a June 8, 2012 AOS interview from a K-1 and it mentions having to take a civics test! Is this true? If so where can I go to study up.
What is the "it" that mentions the civics test?

Not sure what you are reading since you did not link it or post a quote of what you are reading.
The only civics test is for Naturalization to get US citizenship.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.
Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.
AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

But, just to be civic-y - please get in to yer local SSA office and apply for a SSN.
Having one helps you to participate in the USA economy.
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

There is no civics test for adjustment of status.
Not sure what you are reading since you did not link it or post a quote of what you are reading.

Oh thank goodness.
I can't link it because it is something stated about my case while logged into my USCIS case on their website the page also shows my personal info. It shows the stage my case is at and then a little summary about what that part of the process entails and in there is talks about the civics test. Maybe it's a standard statement and applies to naturalization only but is used for both AOS and Naturalization also.
Thanks for the help, sheesh I panick myself for nothing
no civics test for an AOS casefile.

I just got my EAD yesterday and I am going Monday to get my SSN

Can you copy and paste the part that mentions the civics test and not the personal info? I know what he's referring to. In the sample case progression screen that shows the different stages, it shows "Civics Test" after "Interview". Obviously it is set up that way for a naturalization application and won't be relevant to other kinds.

Oh under "testing and interview"?I know what he's referring to. In the sample case progression screen that shows the different stages, it shows "Civics Test" after "Interview". Obviously it is set up that way for a naturalization application and won't be relevant to other kinds.
For a naturalization application the interview will include your taking the required English and/or Civics tests (unless exempt or waived).

Yes that's it. I assumed the government wouldn't put irrelevant information in something so important, how wrong was I
