Hello VJers,
I hope the weekend is going well with all.
I have a question about traveling overseas after fingerprints for I-751 has been done.
My wife is the GC holder and I'm a USC. My wife had to make an emergency trip back home in January and she has to stay there for a while.
How long can she stay there? Does she have to come back after certain time? Is there any time limit for the stay for GC holders? Any other concerns that we have to worry about?
I would really appreciate the response.
Thank you. :)

Your Residency stands abandoned if you stay outside of the US for more than a Year(There are exceptions such as posted outside by the government, Armed Services etc). Usually USCIS overlooks a stay of about 6 months as per my knowledge, but anything more than that might be questioned. Also, if your spouse is called for an interview while she is away, she may have to be back for that, if its earlier(which doesn't seem very likely).

PS: Avoid using terms like "flying back home" :). For USCIS, home MUST be within the USA. :)

Thank you for the reply. I was thinking about 6 months also. I'm going to call USCIS to be on the safe side.
