Dutch dual citizenship

Recently I found out the Dutch government is proposing to change the law effectively taking Dutch citizenship from people who become a citizen of another country. From what I gather this will only apply to people who get citizenship of another country after the new law goes into effect. For me it was reason to start N-400 procedure few weeks ago. Hopefully law won't pass before I become USC.

Any others in this situation?

I am still in the process of Adjusting so this will effect me, however I have no clue what this all means legally.

Yes, unfortunately I have. It is not the US government but the Dutch government tightening belts if it comes to dual citizenship.

But seriously, that's just a big U-turn in policy. As more and more countries become liberal and opening up to multiple citizenship, the Dutch are going in the other direction. Blame is put on immigrants to the Netherlands, who reportedly take advantage of social services. Not sure how this makes sense, but if I was Dutch I would be pretty upset right now.

Makes perfect sense. In Netherlands the idea is that loyalty comes and goes with a passport. As they want to improve loyalty among immigrants they come up with proposals like this. Ironically, the most "problematic" immigrant group out there is from countries that don't even allow their citizenship to be taken away and the EU requires these people to be able to become EU citizens anyway. In order words, the people who it concerns will be able to get dual citizenship anyway but Dutch born nationals will lose the opportunity to become dual citizens once this political ####### is written into law.

Well, it looks like the Dutch government fell today. Most certainly this bill won't be voted on again. Any eligible Dutch person who wants to apply for US citizenship take your chance right now!
