I-130 approval

How do I know if and when my I-130 is approved? Sometimes I see that some people receive an email? How? Did they provide their email address when they sent in the I-130? Because I sure didnt! It never asked for my email address.

Do I call a number? Do I check a website? I am sending my I-130 packet tomorrow to Nebraska and I REALLY need to know how to find out if and when it gets approved!

on the USCIS.gov website, if you go to Case Status & Processing Timelines, you'll see the option to register on the left.

Once you've received your receipt notice you can register online -- apparently if you get your cancelled check the case number may be on the back, but you should receive the receipt notice pretty quickly anyway.

But - I've been registered online, sometimes they update it, sometimes they don't. Some people get emails, some people don't. You will get a letter when you are approved, so that's really the way you'll know :)

good luck!

Sandy
