Hey all, I know it is $100.00US for the appointment per the USCIS guidelines, but can anyone who has used this Dr. for they're Medical tell me how much they charge for all the lab fees etc?

So the amount in total

I posted my medical expenses on this thread Medical in Curitiba, but in Rio there's more than 1 doctor option, so I'm sure it can be cheaper, plus if your fiancée has health care the labs, x-ray, blood test she can have for free.

Mine was as expensive as possible, oh add more R$ 80.00 I spent on another shot she asked to take a month later and R$ 10.00 for the picture they ask for the doctor's appointment :P

So, as I was saying was as expensive as possible because here in South Brazil the Consulate only have one doctor for you to choose, and you know monopoly, she could charge no more than 100 and she charged exactly 100 US$, plus I had no health care so I had to pay everything else.

But I've heard in Rio things are easier and cheaper. Soon enough someone will post here their experience financially with Dr. Joaquim.

Good luck!

Dr. Joaquim was R$200 for the appointment, R$120 for the blood test and R$40 for the X-ray.

And he asks for your ginecologist a letter saying you're healthy with a recent pap smear test(for women).

I didn't ask how much it was for the other doctors in Rio 'cus going downtown was a better option for me.

He gets everything done in the same day and you leave with your sealed envelope.

Thanks! I appreciate the information  My fiance doesn't have Medical Insurance, so no question I'll have to pay. I thought I saw somewhere it was about R$430.00 for everything, but I don't remember where I saw that.

Hi girls,

There are 3 doctors in Rio that are entitled to do our Medical (their names and addresses are on the consulate page). I called 2 of them to get info before going to the appointment. I don't know how much is Dr. Alexandru Baudescu's consultation. This is what I found out:

1. Dr. Aurelio Garrido. Consultation R$ 220. You can bring your own blood tests, X-ray, etc...

2. Dr. Joaquim Duarte. Consultation R$ 200. Blood test R$150. The rest you can bring your own.

I don't have health insurance here in Brazil, only the US. I called a few labs in Rio, and because of my insurance I get a small discount on the HIV/VDRL, paying R$77 on both. It's worth a check. At Lamina the exams are ready in two days.

I hope this helps!

Boa sorte

I went with my fiancee in Rio. Only took about 30-40 minutes. He reviewed her medical tests and stamped some forms. He did a basic exam. She said blood pressure, listening to her chest, back etc. She was a little surprized that he examined her breasts. We were wondering if that was necessary of the the medical paperwork. After the exam he filled in some more papers and sealed them in an envelope for her to take to the consulate. You might get a better explanation from someone else, I was just there for moral support and to pay the tab.

Hi all,

What happens on the medical consultation? Just curious!

I also got my breasts examined. What surprised me was that she also examined down there, like a gynecologist would've, after having asked me to go to the gynecologist and take the preventive test and doing the blood hiv/syphilis test.

But mostly she asked everything about my past, any diseases i've had/have, allergies, use of drugs, if i've ever tried suicide, if i'm depressed, if i've been depressed in the past, if i've been in mental institutions, if i've used legal substances like for depression or any mental disease, anxiety, etc, if my family has history of heart disease, cancer, diabetes, mental disorders, she asked me everything possible and then she kept making notes, asked me to take a bunch of vaccines cuz I couldn't prove the ones I've had in the past, asked me to do the chest x-ray, take the blood test and now I have the sealed envelope with the results of her medical examination I'll take with me to the Interview next monday.

Very simple :P
