calling cards

Is it just me or does anyone else spend insane amounts on calling cards?

Calling cards SUCK!!! Most of them have hidden charges or don't accurately charge you for the minutes used - especially if you don't use the card at once. The connection quality is unpredictable and customer service is nearly non-existent. I think it's because many calling card companies aren't here in the states and aren't governed by any regulation for consumer protection.

My local telephone service offers an international calling plan that is comparible to any rate I can find on a calling card. But the cheapest way I've found is Jinky buys loads through her landline provider in the Philippines (Globe Lines) - comes out to about 5 cents per minute. It took me several months of paying hundreds of dollars per month to finally go this route.

p.s. Just wanted to add that when she uses her cell though, the cost jumps dramatically - to about $6 for 30 minutes.

I use https://www.3utelecom.com they bill you like a phone Co. and ..1 sec billing ....11.9 per min to Moldova alot cheaper to more common places..

You register your phones your going to use.. call a 1-800 # and the dail your love ones # at the prompt..

They even have 1-800's for alot of International Countries so your love one can call you with the better rates

viapin.com is good and cloncom.com is good too. viapin is better (IMHO). Also, some cards are rip-offs, so you have to be careful. Viapin purchased cards are usually better quality, reputable companies (cost a little more, but you get all the minutes). Be careful to use cards with no connection fee and no maintenence fee whenever possible!
